Liverpool Baffled Over Acquittal of Gay Bashing Killer

Fallout from the acquittal verdict in the murder trial of Gavin Alker, accused of killling  Liverpool teen Michael Causer, continues.

Causeer "Friday’s decision means the judge must now decide on whether or not the attack was a hate crime. According to evidence put before the jury, the trigger-point for the violence came when sexually explicit images of the trainee hairdresser were found on his mobile phone, prompting a “sustained and brutal” attack on his naked sleeping form and leaving him with a fractured skull and a swollen brain. Mr Causer was punched, kicked and finally battered around the head with a heavy history book so forcibly that the book’s spine broke, the court heard. It was alleged that Mr Alker, who had never met Mr Causer, screamed “You little queer faggot” adding, “He’s a little queer, he deserves it.” During the trial it was also claimed that a cigarette lighter was used to burn the hair on Mr Causer’s legs, and that threats were made to rip out his body piercings with a knife. But the jury accepted Mr Alker’s evidence that he had been acting in self-defence after he denied making homophobic comments, blaming the attack on O’Connor. The murder has had a profound effect on Liverpool, a city which is busy re-inventing itself as a gay destination with the creation of its own gay quarter, referred to as the Gay Village, and plans for an annual Pride March. Many in the city are puzzled at the lack of interest shown in the case by the outside world, Friday’s acquittal again failing to generate national media attention."

  1. I grew up in Liverpool and left as soon as I could, as fast as I my Vivienne Westwood clad lallies would carry me. Memories of Manchester in the early 90s are of a great club scene (and great sex!), but no more welcoming. I still remember being verbally abused by a Manc when I got out of the station on my way to Flesh at the Haçienda.

In London I have never felt the levels of hostility as I did back then in the North.

The Independent article says "Some look to the church in Liverpool for leadership in reversing ignorance and prejudice in a city where 55 per cent of children are educated in a religious setting"

Has anyone considered that entrusting the Church (Anglican or RC)to look after education may actually foster a dark-age mentality to people of a different sexual orientation? I can just imagine one of the priests who taught me putting on a "DVD stamping out homophobia" in front of the class with a straight face. Perhaps those religious, moral values taught in those schools are what allowed a jury of the good people of Liverpool to acquit the man accused of beating this boy to death?

  2. I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how a jury could be convinced that a man beat a SLEEPING man to death in self defense.

Someone PLEASE explain to me how that is even remotely possible.

  4. Screw protesting, I say a large mob beats Mr. Alker with a book and hangs him from his nuts. Enough Mr Nice Gay, letting someone get away with murder is the last straw.

  5. "THE MICHAEL CAUSER FUND has been established by Liverpool’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Network through LCVS in memory of the 18 year old gay man who was killed in a violent attack in Huyton in 2008. In the short term the Fund will provide assistance to Michael’s family for expenses relating to his funeral."

  6. I can't understand why a civilized nation still has jury trials.

  8. Death to Gavin Aiker! Death to all gay-bashers!

I can see why the Beatles got out of that town.

  9. Most 'gay bashings' are men reacting or overreacting to criminal abuse that the homo 1st did. If a homo is going to abuse another man as this jury decided then the man has a right to use just force to defend.

The fact is that homos often have anti-social personalities. If a homo is going to pinch another man's butt or groin against will, then he deserves it if he gets bashed. Gay bashings are needed to punish homos who abuse others. Homos need to keep their filthy hands to themselves. Better yet, homos should give up homosexuality & impotence is good for homos.
