roadNathan Lane on gay actors coming out: "It’s such a personal thing, and I don’t think it does anybody any good to out people or force them out of the closet. I don’t see the point. It can still be very difficult in this business, so I’m sympathetic to that. You hear rumors and gossip, but nobody really knows except that person, and it’s ultimately up to them. Now, there are times when the press goes easier on or is more forgiving of someone, and I' say, How come he got a free pass?' But ultimately, I don’t feel resentful"

  2. Two unrelated comments:

    1. Nate Montana - Oh My!
    2. Ellen and Portia - read the article and the press is referring to Portia as Ellen's partner, which I guess she is, but she is also HER WIFE. This is another instance of what will happen if Prop 8 is upheld. Even though the existing marriages will still be valid, it doesn't really mean alot. Existing gay marriages will be "one-offs" that no one will really ever acknowledge as being valid. Yes, "Technically" people will still be married, but in the public mind - they won't. This whole thing is so ridiculous. We are being discriminated against due to peoples RELIGIOUS beliefs. That is just fricken' unbelievable. It can be spun a zillion different ways, but the bottom line is we're being screwed because of religion. That is so bizarre.

  4. Thanks for posting The Big Picture series on dogsledding. What great photos! I've always been fascinated by dogsledding, maybe from reading Jack London when I was younger. It's a tough sport and despite what some think, I believe the dogs are loved and treated well. It's challenging not grueling (well, it'd be grueling to my Los Angeleno rear end). I always like it when you post stuff like this.
