That's an excellent response.
We should all be so aware of our egos and keep them in check.
Though I always thought he was doing schtick before, not being serious.

Well, there's a "use" that should be "used," I'm not sure if "doper" is the proper comparative, he needs one question mark, and there's plenty of commas missing, but overall, the grammar's not bad. Plus, he employs "it's" and "you're" correctly.
Actually, I DO wonder if it's him: "Little" Wayne?
Posted by: latebrosus | Apr 9, 2009 5:15:55 PM
Good on him. Now hurry up and put out a greatest hits volume 1 already.
Posted by: Giovanni | Apr 9, 2009 5:21:56 PM
I don't care what he says -- or even who he is. He is uneducated. All caps? And all one paragraph?
When someone writes like that, I don't read it.
Just another reason there are too many "blogs" and "twits" and whatevers online.
Junks up the place.
And my write -- style, folks, style!
At least its NOT IN ALL CAPS AND ALL ONE PARAGRAPH.
Get a clue, fish-man, whoever you are!
(PS -- I don't care who he is, I don't listen to that kind of music so don't try to defend him. I won't read it.)
Posted by: WizardBoy | Apr 9, 2009 5:44:22 PM
Yeah -- I had a typo...
"And my writing...." is what it should have said.
HAHAHA. Too bad. But it wasn't in CAPS was it?
Now why do you care what I have to say? Who am I and who are you?
This responose stuff is just more masturbation via the keyboard.
At least I admit it......
Posted by: WizardBoy | Apr 9, 2009 5:46:11 PM
Yeah, um wizardboy, we don't care
Posted by: Salome | Apr 9, 2009 6:15:05 PM
He's either in therapy or someone else wrote that, with or without his permission.
Posted by: Paul R | Apr 9, 2009 6:24:17 PM
That's a great response, regardless if it's in all caps or not. The response is in line with other things that he has said. I agree, the ego thing was an act, and it had gotten old.
Wizardboy, I won't defend Kanye, but don't you think it's pathetic to make such stupid comments about someone you don't know and don't care about. Your life must be pretty sad that you would even take the time to make not one but two comments on this post.

Good for him..
Nothing like the Gays to be mean and truly heartless about the ONLY famous rap entertainer who chooses to reach out to gays, albiet awkwardly...
Nice.

@ Paul R
Which Celeb SHOULDN'T be in therapy??
Good on him!

wiz
Obviously you do care. Why else open the thread to post a response. "..that kind of music..."
One wonders if while typing "..that kind of music..." you were thinking "music by darkies" or something even less nice.
-----------------------------
Cool response by kanye or at least his publicist who was smart enough to realize that such a response makes him seem cool. You have to respect someone who can laugh at themselves.
Anyway; kanye became cool for me that fateful day when he made mike meyer's chin hit the floor when he said "george bush does not care for black people" on live national television in responseto the US pitiful response to katrina catastrophe. Ever since then he has always seemed cool to me except the clothes his crew wears. Some of that shit is freaky = tights with boots etc
He has also been cool about us gays.
The biggest factor on his maturing and becoming less egotistical was the death of his mother

GO BACK TO PRODUCING.
Posted by: JeffRob | Apr 9, 2009 8:25:04 PM
He's a douche and his music sucks, with or without his ego.
Posted by: Tom | Apr 9, 2009 8:31:25 PM
tom
name just one famous rapper besides Kanye who has tried to talk about us gays in a good way
Talk about ungrateful.
You don't have to like him or his music. You can even think he has in the past tended to meglomania, but there are nicer ways to say such especially with his being the ONLY famous rapper who talks about us gays in a non hateful way

I was shocked that Kanye made out with the grouper -- a groupie yes, not a grouper. The Yellow Tang was much cuter.

LOL! The thing is, though, that matt stone and trey parker aren't really nice guys. They're funny because they're crude and often obliviously or proudly politically incorrect (which is good sometimes), that's it. If anyone's watching it for the message (which there really isn't), and thinks it's interesting, unique, and right, they're idiots. Simple as that. No complexity or deep understanding of anything is offered. The social criticism is superficial and hollow, predictable and primitive; at times, completely clueless conservatism. But it's funny (sometimes) because you don't have to think, and can be amused by the crudity. I love that cartman's a bigoted sociopath--let's face it, the character that keeps the show alive. When episodes get pop culture preachy, they're boring.

They really slayed carlos mencia...and deservedly. But, even that "bit" has been circulating for years, and didn't originate with southpark. And no, I doubt they're aware enough to be making fun of themselves...the steal material all of the time...don't believe me? Cartman wanting to compete at the special olympics they stole from the guy who wrote The Ringer.
Posted by: TANK | Apr 10, 2009 1:36:14 AM
Wait a second Tank, that episode came out before The Ringer did, so unless your claiming that they stole it pre-production your misinformed.
And also, almost all of their shows, if not all of them have some obvious message. If you don't see that then I think you've been missing the point for a long time now. The show is basically the opinions of the Matt and Trey on current events. So to say that the only point of the show is to basically call South Park a new Ren and Stimpy.
Are you calling South Park a new Ren and Stimpy? How dare you sir!

They sometimes have clearer insights into things than other opinion related shows and they really, really, really went after Disney this season.
Posted by: anon | Apr 10, 2009 12:50:06 PM
SALOME, the ringer was in post production when that came out (I think it premiered nationally a few weeks later), and the guy who wrote it shopped the screenplay to them for backing before finding another producer.
As for the obviousness of the "message", that wasn't my dispute. There is no coherent theme or message. There's a bunch of trite little mini messages...text messages.

Great response by kayne. His ego was out of check and he knows it. Even more now. Kanye gained much respect from me for that response.
@ Wiz. everything you have to say lost all its credibility when you said "that kind of music". Shut the hell up.
Posted by: JDAHMS | Apr 11, 2009 1:35:18 AM
First of all,
You all need to give Mr.West respect and also credit.
That man is talented and hes getting his dough. I dont see you all on the big screen or making music, let alone having a job. Most of you all on here probably work at Mcdonalds or some other fast food restruant or you dont work at all, so dont point the finger when theres always one pointing right back at you.

Hey Mr Grammar, since you're in the business of correcting people, it's "there are plenty of commas missing", not "there's [ie: there is] plenty of commas missing". Even as a contraction, "there are" should never become "there's". I wish idiot journalists would learn this, too!

I thought the "Gay Fish" parody was funny. I mean seriously, what greater boost for the ego than having South Park parody you? It just acknowledges the fact that you have become a force in music and not a passing fad.
