New NOM Ad Features Miss California Carrie Prejean - WATCH
Anti-gay National Organization for Marriage, the folks who brought you "Gathering Storm", have released a new ad featuring Miss California Carrie Prejean, Perez Hilton, and HRC President Joe Solmonese. Weak.
According to the latest polls, more and more people support marriage equality and, imho, are beginning to understand there's a distinction between religious beliefs and the basic rights all Americans deserve.
Watch the ad, AFTER THE JUMP...

Dear Members of the media;
Perez Hilton does not represent the gay community.

The 5 year anniversary of legal gay marriage in this country (in Massachusetts) is coming in a few weeks. We haven't suffered any of these dire consequences these scare tactic ads are suggesting.
I hope that this 5 year anniversary will be used by the media on our side as the example of why gay marriage should be legalized everywhere. It simply works and affects nobody negatively on the other side of the issue.

Gee... what happened to the beginning of her speech where she talks about how great it is that Americans can choose between gay marriage and 'opposite' marriage? Must have been an editing glitch, right?
Maybe next time that media whore Perez Hilton will keep his pie hole shut. *sigh*

This ad seems to nauseate me. Not only is it misrepresenting what they call "gay media", but it is drilling up details of long-antiquated and biased reports to paint themselves "victims".
"Why can't we get married? What's the problem here?" becomes "We're going to force you to marry us and we're going to turn all your children into big queers."
"Destroy the fabric of society" my ass.

Perez is no worse than THOUSANDS of other "media whores" out there on the airwaves. Limbaugh ring a bell?

And again, who didn't see this commercial coming? NOM will use anything to stop civil marriage including making Carrie Prejean a martyr!

They are twisting the debate from marriage equality to a freedom of speech/religion issue - and it is nothing of the sort of course. Everyone has already seen the comments regarding Ms. California unless they have been living under a rock, so I don't see that as particularly a red herring that anyone is going to latch on. They are changing the subject to something completely irrelevant, much like the debate on hate crimes legislation. Even though we are make very good progress and Maine and New Hampshire look extremely positive - I still think all eyes will return to the Golden State to see what the California Supremes do... and that will be the watershed moment. I think one of two things will happen, Prop 8 will be thrown out, or the state will get out of the marriage business. I don't think Prop 8 will simply be upheld. If the state gets out of the marriage business I predict there will be a landslide to get it repealed in 2010 - and maybe people will begin to think about the consequences of their votes.

She looked like a complete fool on the Today show this morning. When Matt called her on not sticking to her platform of supporting the Special Olympics, she just said "I want to protect marriage." She said it over and over again. Fool.

This is desperation at its best.

As someone who works for the Miss California USA pageant, part of me wanted to see this bimbo get her title yanked from her. I mean, she isn't returning calls from the organizers, she has hired her own press agent and PR crew independent of the pageants, and she's spewing hatred which goes against everything everyone of us stand for. The more I let it marinate, the more I realized it would be foolish to let this little child off the hook that easy. She's digging herself an early grave in an industry that will NEVER, ever, ever hire her again for so much an extra gig in the background of an infomercial. With each new interview, we see how truly hateful, calculating and hypocritical this little girl is. Meanwhile, she's also keeping the topic of gay marriage ALIVE and relevant all thanks to these appearances. So for that...thank you Carrie- and I can't wait till the right wing fanatics find their new flavor of the week and kick you to the curb when you become yesterdays news (tick-tock-tick-tock...tick!) then you'll be left without a home. Back to the glamorous trailer parks of Greater San Diego you go!
p.s~ she's a royal bitch to work with, and even worse to compete with!

Quote from the video: "Gay marriage activists attack people for supporting marriage because they don't want to debate the consequences of same sex marriage."
Meanwhile, text on the screen says "Protect Freedom of Speech" and "Protect Religious Liberty."
I'm amazed that there are people out there that believe this.

With the previous ad, I called them... well, a bit of almost everything. With this, I'm just going to call them attention whores.

Dear Scottie: Neither do you. Seriously, what is the difference between Perez Hilton expressing his opinion and you expressing yours? We should all be GRATEFUL to Perez for telling it like it is, and anyone wimpering about "ohnoz, Perez has helped create a powerful monstahhhh out of her!" use your brain. This girl is a hero to the dwindling number of people who care a lot about keeping marriage exclusively heterosexual. This ad is terrible! If this is the worst they've got, bring it.

The fact that there are "thousands" of media whores out there does not excuse Perez Hilton's wrecklessly dragging our cause down into the same gutter with Limbaugh. Until now those fighting for marriage equality have represented us well and kept to the high road. That approach has been finally paying off state by state. Most people see Limbaugh as the voice of conservatives. Whether all conservatives like it or not they are stuck with him and now he is dragging them down. We don't need Perez doing the same for us.

This is so shades of Anita Bryant. At first I just thought she would dry up and blow away. I don't see it happening now. On the plus side, I think she'll keep gay marriage in the media spotlight for a brief time. More and more people are beginning to distinguish the difference between civil rights and religion. She'll wind up like Bryant. Old, bankrupt and probably alcoholic.

NOM is violating Copyright(s) from at least 5 sources. Sue the bastards! Miss California USA pageant officials get off your butts and do something this is destroying your brand.

If the best advocate they can come up with is a cable beauty queen also-ran – I like our odds.

Thank you Matthew.
I mean, at least we KNOW that Miss Perez is a media whore, he ain't faking it, and he's standing up for us.
But this..."special lady" has decided that she wants to climb the cross. I only hope that she hits the right wood splinter that will fuck up her fake boobs.

Did I ever mention I can't stand Perez Hilton? No?
Also, I love how Ms. Beauty Queen is becoming the next Joe the Plumber. The right will rally around her in a whacko fringe right orgy that has no mainstream appeal and makes them all look a little, well, weird. Oh, and bigoted.

If you so care to, touch base with the organizers or sponsors and let them know how you feel about a beauty queen who has drained services from GAY FOLKS, using the same title afforded by them as a platform for her hate filled propoganda.

Make your voices heard, just as she is.

i dont like perez, but he was right: that girls is just a BIG DUMB BITCH. she has proven to the public that that is what she is by simply opening her mouth. so NOM doesnt do itself any good by associating with her.

NBC`s Today show is interviewing Miss California this morning. Wow, Perez calling her a bitch has really turned her into a bigger star than... ummm.. whoever actually won the contest.
Posted by: GregV | Apr 30, 2009 10:34:21 AM
Mommy, mommy, I want to be a blond stupid whore like that lady!
Ok Perez, shutup already.

Further to what I just posted about the Today show... I just watched it. Matt Lauer did not ask her ANY hard questions. She said over and over that ``I`m just here to protect marriage.`` She also said, ``It`s all about respect.``
Mmmhmm... ``I just want all you inferiors to sit at the back of the bus, now why can`t we just respect each other`s ideas.``
Posted by: GregV | Apr 30, 2009 10:53:10 AM
I knew they would turn her into a martyr for their cause as soon as I saw that video of Perez. At least they didn't sat that he also called her the "c" word. Gee thanks, Perez.
