Top Gun Star Kelly McGillis: I'm Gay
In an interview on SheWired's Girl Rock, star of Top Gun and L Word actress Kelly McGillis said she is "definitely [looking for] a woman...I'm done with the man thing. I did that. I need to move on in life. That's another part of being true to yourself."
McGillis called her coming out "part of an ongoing process." She added: "It's been a challenge for me personally...It was a long arduous journey and I had a lot of things happen that convinced me that God was punishing me because I was gay. So that was a hard process. Life is a freaking journey, and it's about growing and changing, and coming to terms with who and what you are, and loving who and what you are."

Best wishes to our sisters in the gay community on handling this one. It's always hard when a total flake comes out of the closet with really strange definitions of why they are seeking the same sex.

I don't understand why she makes it seem like she's been straight all this time and only now is going to date women. She's been 'dating' women for at least 20 years.

I took her comment about being "past that" to mean publicly. And good grief, do we really need to present good enough "reasons" to be gay nowadays? does it matter the journey that took us to realise who we really are?

Even though Kelly herself appears to be the last person to receive this news...I say good for her. She'll definitely be happier than she has been trying to pretend that she's even remotely interested in penises.

McGillis is superb as a lesbian femme fatale in the 2000 Australian lesbian thriller THE MONKEY'S MASK, which also stars the fascinating Susie Porter.

Actually, this is old news. She bought a brownstone in Brooklyn with her girlfriend sometime in the late 80's, early 90's and disappeared from view. Matter of fact, they adopted a child together.
