In Senegal, They Don't Even Tolerate Dead Gays

SenegalA Senegalese man suspected of being gay was exhumed and thrown out of the cemetery after being buried:

"The man, in his 30s, was first buried on Saturday before residents of the western town of Thies dug up his body and left it near his grave, police say.  His family then reburied him, but he was once more exhumed by people who did not want him buried there. His body was dumped outside the family house...A police officer told the AFP news agency that the body was eventually buried away from the cemetery. The state-owned Le Soleil newspaper reports that it was buried within the grounds of the family home"

  2. Africa's a hellhole- what else would you expect? There's a reason they're still living pre-industrial revolution...

Africa is a continent 2X the size of the USA

America itself has its own pre-industrial ignorant ass backwards redneck areas

All of Africa is NOT senegal, uganda, whatever. Yes Africa has problems but your knee jerk response is ignorant and primitive in its own way.

    Yes, Sighhhhh

on the story covered by this thread.

side not though...burial is barbaric and complete waste of time, money, and land. Cremation and scattering of ones ashes is much more sanitary , blanaced in that one's molecules mix and recycle faster as vs sealed up in a box, simply more modern and advance as compared to primitive religous beliefs that one needs to protect the body so it can be resurected by some toothfairy in the clouds 9the reason behind montheist burial and historical hate of "pagan" cremation)

  6. How much US Aid do they receive a year? If US taxes are going towards this regime, i'd be pissed.

Senegal 2009 (bush regieme) U.S. provided $55.9 million in development

But one could play devil's advocate in that senegal being 96% muslim was being partly payed off / gov proped up so more radical fundie muslims did not take control of the gov. The current gov though muslim without US aid money could find themselves besieged by more radical fundie muslims trying to take over the gov unless they greased local palms with that US cash.

  9. While they try to save their precious society, they are in the throes of destroying it. Condoned vigilantism is uncivilized.

  10. Senegal also has a huge problem with trafficking in children, so it's not like it's functioning in other ways.

  11. i have to correct something I posted

Africa in fact is not 2X the size of the USA. The African continent is closer to 3X to size of the USA. Buckminster Fuller's dymaxion map is one of the few that acurately shows this

  12. The Dark Continent indeed.

  13. Total aid is about $450 million (or about one-fifth of the national budget), but I doubt they get it all from us. In all fairness, ignorance and violence often stem from poverty - making Senegal even poorer isn't likely to make it more tolerant.

  14. The only thing worth-while to have come from Senegal are its parrots. Tom so well said earlier...

  15. Sorry, but all of Africa is like Senegal. Whether they are Muslim or Christian, they are overwhelmingly anti-gay. That homophobia comes from their religion and/or their collective cultural and social ignorance. Such hatred cannot and must not be excused.

  16. Sorry Mike but all of Africa is not like Senegal. South Africa even legalized same-sex marriage. Can you say as much for the grand 'ol US of A?
