  1. Wow! Brian Shuster is the MAN! Sweet smackdown there!

You know, I plan to become a high school social studies teacher, which includes both history and government; the gay rights movement has been an openly, integral part of the political landscape for the last 40 year, and a much more underground part of history prior to that. The religious right goes on and on about "homosexuality being taught in the schools"; well, as a responsible teacher, how can I even conceive of omitting such important events? We are a part of the global culture, and have been since the beginning of time. To omit that is, essentially, censorship.

  4. Just the sight of Maggie Gallagher makes my skin crawl. It's not that she's ugly or fat, it's that she's in a constant state of sneer and condescension.

I hope they put her in jail for some financial crime which I'm sure she's committed.

  5. I always think it is so out-of-place & disproportionate to here the NOM people complain and whine about being called "names" --- gay people have been beaten senseless, left to die, denied homes, health and welbeing for way to many years. As someone pointed out these people just HATE us --- and even when we align ourselves to their concept of good people (marriage) they still hate us. They should stop whining and actually help people, like the thousands of homeless people in the US or the under educated in the US. Stop wasting their time, money and energy on something that really does not affect them in a negative way AT ALL!!!

  6. Did Stephen "I-am-a-Jesus-freak" Baldwin say that "God wrote the Bible"? No you didn't bitch!! Maybe that explains why your "movie career" is in the shithole! Did the Bible say anything about that? One word for Maggie and Stephen - BIGOTRY!!

  8. Everytime i hear that damn NAGGIE cow speak i want to bury my boot right up her saggy kaslopis and dig it around! She is so ugly that i think she should put a damn burkha on and hide her sow face from the rest of the world. I want to chuck my guts all the time when i see her.

  9. it's remarkable that same-sex marriage - what was until recently a tabu subject with instant punishment to even fathom - is being supported vehemently in the mainstream media, and homophobes are getting so lambasted that they're forced to desperately shout about being called their rightly-earned name; bigot.

  10. Ah, Brian Brown is pulling out the old chestnuts of discrimination against the church, never mind that none of his examples hold water; in fact, they are examples of discrimination against gay people. Churches should have the right to marry or not marry whomever they please. But if religious organizations place their services in the public arena, it is their responsibility to justify violations of anti-discrimination laws. Put yourself in the secular arena, play by secular rules. He's also lying when he says Americans are overwhelmingly against allowing gay couples to marry, and he knows that, which is why they're desperately and futilely trying to turn back the tide.

  12. $10,000 for fake capped teeth

$10,000-$20,000 for a good boob job

yeah WWJD "Verily I say unt ye to seek after vanity at all costs and let children starve without a crust of bread for fake boobs shall get ye into the kingdom of heaven"

Andy C needs to focus more on exercising his mind as vs exercising the bod to get young latino snatch if he truly can not fathom the hypocrisy of Miss Fake with her titty tatas.

Hello, she is pontificating on morality while pursuing vanity. Money that could have fed quite a few young poor latinos who could grow up into strong young latino men for Andy C to diddle as vs growing up malnurished and thus if they survive to be ignored as too thin and pockmarked from malnutrition for andy c to even look at.

  13. I'm not defending Maggie Gallagher, but one has to admit she's nowhere near as inflamatory as the typical anti-gay activicts you see on television. Her point seems to be more of preserving marriage than accuse gays and lesbians of being immoral and sinful.

  14. Jimmyboyo, you are my hero! I could not have said it better than that! Very funny...and very true.

  15. "preserving marriage"

preserving it from what? The 50%+ divorce rate straights experience

Yeah lets preserve it but really preserve it back to what it was in the good old days. Women as property of their husbands. Multiple wives. The right of husbands to divorce or even kill their wives when they get tired of them. The right of a man to stone his wife if she cooks his food while she is on the rag (deuturonimy). The right of old men to marry 9 yr olds = Mohamed did way back in the good old moral days.

What is often referred to as "preserving marriage" is in fact preserving a tv illusion of ozzie and harriet from the 50's. It wasn't reality and there is no preserving illusions unless one is seriously psychologically disturbed

  17. Utterly tired and tiresome story.

As Anderson Cooper says, and Andy said a week ago, it is time to move on.

    Posted by: Paul R | May 2, 2009 7:37:10 PM

  18. Come on Andy. Please make this your last post on this topic. Attacking her is NOT going to change her mind. Its only going to bring more media attention.

I keep saying here - had Perez kept his mouth shut, this would have been a one day news story and OVER. She would not get the attention she is getting. All of you attacking her - her celebrity is your fault. YOU have made her more popular than the winner of the pagent. YOU have encouraged the far right to sweep her off her feet with endorsements, commercials and subsequently paychecks. YOU have kept her in the news. The only reason she is still around is because the gays got all in a tizzy over someone's opinion.

On a similar note - she has been nothing but respectful (language wise) in her discussions. She has not called anyone names. Why must we attack? Its very sad and immature.

  19. What I found profoundly disturbing about Maggie's appearance is not just the fact that she's a biggot, it's that her agenda clearly goes far beyond "redefining marriage". She keeps speaking about children needing a mother and a father. Let's ignore the fact that she was an un-wed mother, it is currently legal for gay people to have children. If I want a child I currently have a myriad of options open to me, anywhere from adoption, surrogacy or just walking down the street and knocking up some drunk girl I meet at a bar.

This goes beyond marriage for her, she doesn't want gay people to have children. She clearly does not want a gay person or gay couple to raise a child, regardless of the circumstances that brought the child into their life. For her, this doesn't stop at eliminating our legal right to marriage in a few states, soon to be the rest of the country, she wants to take away our right to raise children.

She really is an awful, hateful person. I'd feel sorry for her if she wasn't channeling the hate and pain in her own life into hurting others instead of trying to find happiness and peace with herself.

I say just let her continue to run her hateful mouth. "Redefining marriage" is a polarizing subject just because of the semantics of the word, most of the people that are against gay marriage are simply misinformed and hung up on the word, they support gay people having equal rights, even if they have uneducated opinions on the legal definition of the word. Let this woman continue to talk, her true agenda is quickly becoming clear and I think most people regardless of their opinion on semantics of the word marriage will find her beliefs pretty reprehensible.

I want someone to ask her point blank in an interview if she believes a gay person or couple should be allowed to raise a child and point out that that it is currently legal in every state and that taking away that right would remove thousands and thousands of children from loving homes just because she has a academically unproven belief that that is not an ideal situation from them.

  20. Carise, you have no idea what you're talking about. Maggie is a HUGE homophobe. She is not new to this debate, she is just now focusing on "marriage." She is responsible for flying a billboard over the Folsom Street Fair 2 years ago about how sinful homosexuality is. And her tone is constantly condescending. And please, 'preserving marriage' FROM WHAT!!??

Oh, and Anderson should stay far away from GLBT politics until he has the balls to come out himself.

  21. Quoting Liz Templin :: no offense to Anderson cooper, but i don't know how he can't see the relevance to why Carrie's breast implants matter. ::

    Yes!!

Carrie Prejean's breast implants matter for many reasons (I'm passing on talking about the issues of objectification, sexism, and pressure on women to look a certain way -- for now), but the most prominent at the moment is the HYPOCRISY of this "Christian" (Ms. Prejean) opposing marriage equality because she's "Christian," and here she is (a) being quite the holy, sacred, gates-of-heaven sex object for the whole world in her skimpy white bikini and grapefruit-halves-like-breasts, and (b) being crazily false about her presentation -- I mean, she's a form of a liar through her presentation (there's also the dyed hair and the fake teeth and the probably artificially tanned skin).

Now, as a separate layer, Anderson Cooper's behavior here really peeves me. It's an object lesson in how his closetedness affects his journalism and his integrity as a journalist and as a human being. I suspect quite strongly that he wants to pooh-pooh this as a non-story because (a) it connects to gay issues, and (b) it is about HYPOCRISY with respect to gay issues. Therefore, it's too close to home to Anderson Cooper's personal issues. So he wants to act like it's not a worthy story. Ugh.

I disagree with the sentiments of "can we move on"? Carrie Prejean, and her statements, and her breast implants, are actually GREAT for the cause of marriage equality. We'd be fools to pass up coverage of the antics of this ninny and her National Organization for Maggie (Ms. Gallagher's salary is apparently about 1/3rd of the money NOM raises) pals. It all shows the VACUOUSNESS, as well as HYPOCRISY of the anti-marriage equality side. (Sorry for the all-caps, but I do wish to emphasize some key concepts...) I hope Miss California -- both despite and because of her obnoxiousness and inanity -- stays in the news for a good long time because she is *helping* making our full equality finally happen sooner than it otherwise will happen. Seriously.

  22. Anderson Cooper was trying to establish why Miss Moakler would release this private information about the Breast Implants. He says "do they always do that"...... meaning release private information about a contestant. It's an obvious attempt by the Miss California organization to discredit Carrie Prejean. Anderson knows it.

I hope this backfires in their faces. It's a cheap trick from the apparently vindictive Miss Moakler. The whole Miss Universe franchise from State to Miss Universe is a total Las Vegas style sideshow with the intelligence of a soap opera and the credibility of professional wresting.

  23. BC

    Wow, is she your cousin?

    ----------

AC probably also thinks it a non issue in part because of the society is from. surgical alterations were probably the norm for his mother and her friends with all of their money. AC himself has most likely had work done. The majority of his coworkers annualy have work done because lets be honest, news casters aren't generally on tv now a days for news ability but rather for a pretty face that can read a teleprompter without causing trouble for their overlords.

vain money wasting breast implants for a moralizing/ pontificating hypocrit???? All the gals on set have had breast implants so AC really doesn't understand the issue. AC has always lived in an ivory tower. He is from the vanderbelt family

^ i had this mindset for a bit, but then i thought "it's thoughts like hers (as nice worded as they may be) that have driven people to compare us to screwing animals, children and even family members. being called 'bitch' is nothing compared to having your head bashed in over and over again or being told you're going to hell, being kicked out of your home...the list goes on. perez could've probably called her worse names. i think she actually got off easy by him.
