New Jersey Net Richard Jefferson: 'I'm Not Gay'

Jefferson

Reports that New Jersey Net Richard Jefferson dumped his fiance shortly before their wedding have revived rumors that Jefferson is gay, according to Deadspin, or at least those rumors that some New Jersey Net is gay. Jefferson says it's not him.

The New York Post reports: " The couple had planned to top off their $500,000 wedding with a honeymoon in London, where they had tickets to one of the Michael Jackson comeback shows. Of the money he's giving Nichols, Jefferson said, 'I'm not trying to buy her off. She has a lump sum to help her move on.' He added, 'I've made my mistakes in this relationship, 100 percent. But at the end of the day, there were some people who were responsible for the demise of it.' He insisted a rumor he's gay had nothing to do with the breakup.' I'm not gay,' Jefferson said. 'That couldn't be any further from the truth. I have nothing to hide.' Nichols could not be reached."

  1. The rumors have been out for quite sometime (cough)--when there's smoke, there's fire, just sayin'. But gay or not--ditching that girl like that was a douchey thing to do.

    And by EMAIL???!!!

  2. Well, he looks kinda' gay...you know, with the pretty sensual lips, the pretty skin, arched eyebrows, that real sensitive look (easy to bring to tears), the slight over-bite etc. Might as well be gay. We need more tall gays.

  3. He may not be gay, but he has just about the worst tattoo I've ever seen. A sloppy version of his initials?? Wrong in so many ways.

  4. Uh, yeah.

  5. I certainly hope that he isn't gay for multiple reasons. Just think of all the negative publicity for gay people if it turns out to be true (like it or not we really are all painted with the same brush by lots of people). More importantly I'd like to think that a gay person would have more integrity than to dump someone via email the night before their wedding. Gay or not it was a totally jerky thing to do regardless of the reason - he might be tall but he doesn't have any backbone.

  6. If he isn't gay, then as my BBGF says; He's just sensitive. Whatever. He's hot, intelligent and probably made the right decision. It takes a man to be able to stand up and say 'wait a minute' and be mature enough and secure enough to call the wedding off. He seems to be a smart man, who risk a life of unhappiness for a week or two of dismay and then move on with his life. Fear not, Richard. There are many decent women and men who would give you the love you need without expecting anything in return. Just your beautiful, tall, lanky self....

  8. He doesn't play for the Nets. He was traded last year to the Milwaukee Bucks, who traded him this spring to San Antonio.
