Oh, I don't know... I'd say she's strong enough to keep going back for the crack pipe. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Well, it seems kinda toned down to be a "big" comeback release. Sounds like a feature soundtrack to a Tyler Perry movie. Something like "Madea on Parole."

More shit fron Shitney Houston. She sure did crash down and that's where she needs to stay.

Kinda boring, and doesn't deliver the classic mega Whitney vocals.

Nothing she puts out could please some bitches. I am super happy for whitney, just hearing her voice after so so long, and after much messy public behavior, is wonderful. And I hope it's indeed the comeback we want from her. Peter Rauhofer's mix of this song is real hot btw...
You can hear it being played at his pride party last weekend in NYC:

Sounds like it was written to be remixed. I really wanted this to sound 'more'.

Pretty song but the voice is shot.

Sounds good to me. Some wear and tear on the voice, but at least she' back to doing what she does best big ballads. I wish her all the best and to please stay away from the drugs and the bad people who helped her lose her way.

Wow! What a bunch of bitchy queens (Writes a bitchy queen.).
The song is consistent with Whitney's gospel background, and the girl's earned the right for an anthem. I wish Whitney well and continued recovery. That is a very, very good thing and to be celebrated.

Fantastic lyrics, but the voice is gone. Sounds like something an American Idol contestant would release as her first single.

Her voice has lost that smoothness and range that made her a star. This isn't going to go down as a classic Whitney song. Bring the beat and up the tempo.

Honestly... I don't think this is her track...

The whole time I listened to this, I was like, "This sounds like a Diane Warren song."
And what do you know? It is. Considering I've not heard much of Warren's songwriting lately, and we've not heard anything out of Whitney in a while, this sounds pretty nice.

(Scroll down to "Songwriter Diane Warren had something to say about the the song she wrote for Houston.")

Damn, 'Street Whitney' really did ruin her voice.
Who is writing her lyrics now, Madonna?
Girl needs to study more at the "Mariah Carey School of Comebacks."
Dionne & Patti would have been smart enough to pass on this song.
Maybe Sanford could use it for his comeback though.
I could think of a million of these.
It is sad though that the Whitney of "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" is no longer with us.
Goodbye, Michael. Goodbye, Whitney.

Freaking Love it. I love the emotion and the more mature sound. Pring on the remixes. This will be an anthem for women and gay boys who have come through the storm.

Bitch is back! Mariah Shitty has is not half of Whitney.

Not exactly ground breaking, but I'm happy to see her back. I really hope her recovery is going well, and I wish her all the luck in the world. It was nice to hear her again.

I like it. Welcome back Whitney. You are Iconic.

It's not a comeback! It's a RETURN! I hate that word!
Posted by: ZnSD | Jul 2, 2009 6:55:54 PM
As much as I want this comeback so bad, especially since MJ's passing... I agree with Jim - her voice is not the same, it's raspy and at times sounded hoarse. I love me some Whit-Whit and I hope the best for her but this song definitely reminded me of an AI tune and it wasn't that pleasant. Maybe it'll grow on me.

This is the most honest Whitney Houston I've ever heard. She's still better than 95% of the so-called, lip-synching, auto-tuned "singers".

Is it 1993?
Posted by: Cristian | Jul 2, 2009 7:05:06 PM
She's probably never going to sound like she did when she was 25, and it would likely be a sad mistake for her to try, though I'm sure her handlers are aiming for that mega-comeback that's prone to failure. Voices aren't usually good at lying. When they've been inside a body that's been to hell and back a few times, it's only natural that the wear and tear will show. But a great singer can remain a great singer if she understands the limitations and runs with them instead of trying to turn back time: Etta James, for example. She's done great stuff late in her career. I was never a huge fan of the perfect, anthemic Whitney, but I'd love to hear her let it all out, cracks (sans pipe) and all. She's had a lot of living that could go into the right songs.
