Ed Westwick in Gay Kiss for Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl's new season will feature Ed Westwick's character Chuck Bass planting one on the lips of actor Neal Bledsoe, Michael Ausiello reports.

SPOILERS: Bledsoe plays Josh Ellis, NYU’s head of freshman affairs. According to Ausiello, "Since Josh is tasked with selecting an incoming student for the honor of delivering the freshman speech, he’s, shall we say, a person of interest to Blair. In fact, she’s so determined to snag the slot that she goes so far as to pimp out her boyfriend to the gay guy in charge."

  1. Oh, GG/CW, why must you tease us so? Can you just give one of these beautiful boys the heteroflexibility on-screen that more than one of them has in the books. God, I have NO business watching this show (and fought it the first season), but they are all so pretty... :-P

  3. Wow, that's not insulting at all.

Can someone please explain why so many people talk about this show that no one watches?

  4. I watch this show religiously. Watch for the humor innit, or not.

  5. I'm happy for Ed. He can finally kiss another guy in public and say it was just because the script called for it. Wink, wink.

  6. I'm sure we're going to get the usual song and dance on the late night shows about how "difficult" and "strange" and "awkward" it was for him to kiss another man.

  7. The least cute guy on the series. Gee, GG, thanks for throwing us a bone.

  9. Ratings ploy. Oh television, please grow up.

You have an actual gay character on that show that nothing is done with...but they do this for ratings? Puh-Leease!

  10. This achieves the seemingly impossible task of making me adore Chuck Bass even more!

  11. I have trouble knowing whether this show is a crock of shit or a bucket of vomit. It's shallow and toxic, whatever it is. Its preponderance of gay actors minstreling as "straight bachelors" makes it even more so.

  12. Guys...guys...it's just a tv show. The holy grail hasn't been found yet. I agree that giving Chuck a storyline when there is a gay character already there who has never been used properly sucks with teeth. But then again, it is just tv.

  13. I realize that people are upset that the one gay character, Eric, is underused, and that a seemingly "straight" character is getting more gay "play" in what is being cynically seen as a ratings move, but it seems to me to be very consistent with GOSSIP GIRL and a GOOD move in the right direction for those of us who were unhappy to see the bi-curious character of Chuck de-gayed in the transition to TV (as was Dan). Having Chuck kiss a guy is consistent with that and no matter what the genesis of the kiss, leaves open the door of the plot device for them to play with later. Both actors, while not wildy enthusiastic, for sure, have expressed that they are explore it fully as actors if it's written for them.

Plus, it's a soap. On the number one daytime we just had a completely straight (and very diabolical) character seduce a 23-year old gay lawyer, sleeping with him at least twice to divert suspicion. Soaps get to do outrageous things including play with sexuality and, yes, for ratings, shock, and entertainment (not critical acclaim). that's okay. It's how the medium works.

  14. If a gay kiss occurs in a series and noone watches, does it make any noise??
