Oregon Transgender Mayor Stu Rasmussen Censured for Mini-Skirt

Silverton, Oregon's transgender mayor Stu Rasmussen was censured by the City Council 4-3 for wearing a mini-skirt while speaking to a group of children.

Stu On Friday, I posted a segment from FOX News commentator Bill O'Reilly's take on this story.

It was a rare criticism of the highly popular mayor, which came after a parent of one of the children filed a complaint: "The City Council found the public complaint to be founded and publicly reprimanded the mayor by censuring him, which basically means they officially disapproved of his outfit."

  1. Well, maybe she deserved it. It might have been an ugly, trashy-looking skirt, right?

  2. Fine with me. Lots of her (his? don't know what gender he/she goes by) outfits would be scandalous if any female politician wore them.

  3. If she's transgender, then shouldn't it be "they officially disapproved of HER outfit"?

Your outfit should FIT the Venue for which you are representing.....be realistic, and take this like a "Lady"..be happy everyone is excepting, and get some coaching by someone who knows style.

  5. Any woman of a certain age should not wear mini skirts. The mayor past that age a long time ago.

  6. i agree. she needs to be responsible and wear things are that appropriate for work situations. and when working with children you need to dress to make an impression that is conducive to your position. i dont care if you are male, female or transgender. enough said.

  7. Stu goes by "he." He isn't actually transgender, he simply likes to look female. He's a transvestite to a more major extent because he got breast implants to add to the look. He's a very special case, but unfortunately gets "mixed" in with transgendered people, which causes confusion to those who are less educated on the subject.

Stu messed up, plain and simple. The dress was not appropriate, male or female, and he did it anyway and then claimed they were being intolerant. He messed up and should apologize.

"No miniskirts" doesn't mean "no miniskirts for everybody else but you," it means "no miniskirts." Plain and simple.

  8. He uses "he."

  9. @Jae'da: Stu is transgender. "Transgender" is an umbrella term that means "deviating from gender norms". It can apply to transsexuals, transvestites, and arguably, gays and lesbians, among others.

Most people confuse transgender with transsexual, which is I believe what you are doing. Transsexual is a subset of transgender. And even within the transsexual community there is diversity; not all transsexuals opt for surgery, for example.

The point is, Stu is breaking gender norms. He's transgender.

  10. A slut will always dress slutty....

  11. He...since that's what he prefers to be addressed as...knows how to dress for a professional setting. Way to represent a community by running a public office as if dressed for the local Pride parade...

  13. ps what i wouldn't do to get my hands on that bird's nest hair...

  14. Most people here agree, as do I, that Stu should not have worn that miniskirt as it is against the rules of the job to wear it male or female.

See that homophobes, we aren't looking for special rights.
