    @That Burning Sensation:

    That’s the case in CA. Peds ALWAYS have the right of way, wherever they decide to cross. Crosswalks are merely a suggestion of where it may be safe to cross.

    I’m sure that fact (he had the right-of-way) will be comforting to the survivors trying to pick his bits and pieces out of the grill of that bus.

    Ugh, wish we could edit comments here.

    Was referring to the guys who have the right of way and can’t be bothered to exercise even the lamest safety measures – like being aware of what’s happening around you.

    NOT referring to the guy in the vid, who clearly was aware!!

    The only place that I’ve ever had cars stop for me in a crosswalk was in Maine. Here in Chicago they tried to make drivers aware that the pedestrian has the right-of-way. Didn’t work.

    Holy crap! Here in Seattle, they ticket you for jay walking (not that the guy in the video was doing that, as far as I could tell). Also, here in Seattle, there’d have been about 10 people following that guy and getting taken out by the bus/car because they were just being mindless sheep and following the guy. Er, hint: Jay walking is a singles sport, not a group activity.

    Wish I could show that vid to all the idiots in SF that get halfway into the intersection before they decide to look up from their cell phones to see if there is a car coming….and then give you a dirty look.
