  1. Rodney Wollam says

This is what happens when the state has no money. Unassisted by the CDOE, public universities have to pass the costs on to the students.

They only have themselves to blame. Maybe next time there is a state-referendum to raise taxes (and, in part, provide for their education), all of these protesters will get off their butt and vote.

RODNEY WOLLAM: You have something of a point, but many of these students were not old enough to vote when the taxes were on the ballot.

The problem is usually the older set, they got theirs and they don’t feel any responsibility to pay for the education of the younger set.

  3. Rodney Wollam says

The election was just over a year ago. Anyone who is 19 (many freshmen and every second year student and up) would have had the opportunity to vote last November.

  4. Scott says

How do you know they didn’t vote for a tax hike? Did you go ask them? David makes a good point. The older generations tend to be quite selfish when it comes to paying for things they don’t need. The Boomers should change their names to the Me Generation.

  5. Rodney Wollam says

And my point is while this is unfortunate for the students, it’s usually only when circumstances affect someone personally that people wake up to the needs of a functioning democracy. Small sacrifices from every single person in return for services for you alone …
