Boy Gets Tongue Stuck to Flagpole in Real-Life Christmas Story

A boy in Boise, Idaho got his tongue stuck to a pole in a scene reminiscent of the 1983 classic, A Christmas Story. Firefighters were summoned and the boy's tongue was unstuck with a splash of warm water.

  1. They needed to call the firefighters? No adult in the neighbourhood knew about using warm water? That's sad.

"A Christmas Story" should be required viewing at this time of year.

  2. Everybody who grew up in the Upper Midwest has experienced this exact thing. I don't get why it would be "news."

  3. Thank you for the horrific reminder of a moment in childhood some would rather forget.

  5. I can't believe this is news either, especially in Idaho. This is a somewhat common occurrence in places with sub-freezing temperatures. Typical local news BREAKING AT 11! non-story.

  6. I agree with RJ - waste of money to call the fire department for that! I could maybe understand it in a warmer place that rarely freezes, but Idaho? Come on.
