  1. Adam Lambert is speaking out on this: "Well, you know, (Rick Warren) did something that's not necessarily very nice, but I'm sure he's got some sort of justification for it."

  2. Rachel Maddow is a hero for exposing the unjustness of the treatment of gays, here in the US and around the world. She exposes the hypocrisy of so many of our politicians, and is a force to be reckoned with. She is one of our greatest!

  4. Thank you, Rachel. I knew he was a dick, but not to this extent.

  5. I never have thought Warren has wanted us all dead.

BUT - he is just not a very smart man, and doesn't understand the political or moral consequences of what he says and believes.

As per usual, people who are fundamentalist believers in the Bible or any other book, are intellectually and morally lazy.

Rather than relying on moral reasoning, they look for simple answers to complex questions in old books. We have to keep a constant eye on these people to make sure they don't infringe on our civil and human rights. It's just that simple. We will always have to do this.

  6. His megachurch is mega. His words and actions have the potential to harm many.

Thank you God for creating Rachel Maddow -- she can cut through Warren's crap like no one else.

Thank you Towleroad for documenting this.

    I'm full of gratitude today!

  7. Oh MSNBC. I appreciate your small efforts. Such as the fact that I can watch your clips abroad, while CNN and Fox block all their media content from being viewed outside the US.

  8. Rachel, Rachel, Rachel....yes..we love you. Thanks so much for breaking (or, at least being one of the few that are reporting on) this story. I just don't understand why your producers think it's necessary to put a jokey tag line on the reports. ("Uganda Be Killing Me"........?!?) I've cringed seeing that all this week as I've watched your reports. The tag line certainly belies the importance of the law being considered in Uganda. Thanks for all you do.

  9. Can somebody tell me the political/religious interest in Uganda? I mean Africa is a large continent, but why this country in particular?

Thank you Rachel for accurate reporting exposing such inhumane actions.

  10. Andrew K: Rick Warren is pretty smart if you ask me. I doubt his need to retract or his self-contradictions have had any negative effect on his his standing among those who support him. And they do want us dead. That's what fascism is all about, that and us disbelieving that they want us dead.

  11. Love Rachel! Wish I could get MSNBC instead of CNN and FOX. Ugh. So where's Anderson Cooper's reporting on all this? Sorry I just don't like Cooper for some reason. Also why hasn't Obama spoken out about this? I would say it's time for all the gay groups/orgs to pressure him to speak out. Hold rallies/protest in front of the White House maybe.

  12. So right Don Garden, there are so many here in the US that want us dead, never mind 5,000 miles away.

  13. Jakeinlove:

Now that similar (and in some ways, worse) legislation is being entertained in Rwanda, passing this sort of legislation could have a domino effect in Africa. Why should we care? What if an American or a European goes there to help AIDS victims and happens to be gay? What if they're caught in the wrong place? Then we have a Lisa Ling-esque hostage situation going on that could be just terrible for everyone involved.

Nevermind the fact that people could die for being gay.
