Watch: James Franco Plays Allen Ginsberg in Howl - 4 Clips
James Franco stars in Howl, Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's new film about beat poet Allen Ginsberg. It's an amalgam of various storytelling devices, as this story in the Guardian details:
"Epstein and Friedman's bop-inflected film now mixes Ginsberg's original reading with a dramatisation of both the obscenity trial and a mercurial interview Ginsberg gave to a Time reporter, as well as dreamy animation."

I was wondering why James Franco looked so pudgy when he last hosted SNL. I forget that Allen Ginsberg was a bit zaftig himself. Now, I can't wait to see this movie!

A great cast, I'm not a big Ginsberg fan but this is worth a viewing.

Allen Ginsberg. Please. He single handedly ruined poetry for the next hundred years. Now every back water ya hoo with a pencil stub can pour out inane gibberish and call it art.
Thanks Allen. The man should spend eternity being forced to listen to Sarah Palin recite Howl with ben wa balls up his a-s.

I'm not a Ginsberg fan, but I will watch any film with James Franco in it. His smile is extraordinary.
