Watch: Richard Socarides Discusses 'DADT' Repeal on BBC

Former Clinton adviser Richard Socarides appeared on the BBC this morning in a segment about the repeal of the military gay ban. In the UK, military personnel are allowed to serve openly, and have been allowed to attend Gay Pride parades in uniform since 2008.

  2. As a Brit, I just wanted to point out that the armed forces aren't "allowed to attend Gay Pride parades in uniform" - they're IN the parade in uniform. ^_^

    I believe they usually go for plane-themed floats (though I've seen parde photos of a tank painted pink - just don't know if it was military or civilian), and since 2005 they also run recruiting stations at Pride events.

  3. Just wanted to point out - as a Brit - that gays aren't "allowed to attend Gay Pride parades in uniform"... they're allowed to participate IN the parade in uniform. ^_^

    They have floats, and since 2005 run recruitment stands at Pride events too.
