Watch: Cruise Ship Struck By Three 30 Foot waves

Wow. It's hard not to think of The Poseiden Adventure after watching this amazing video footage taken from inside of a cruise ship at the moment one of three massive waves slammed into the side of the ship. Two passengers died from moving furniture and flying glass caused by the impact.

Watch the video after the jump...

  2. Yet another person holding a camera while not helping. Yay for you.

  3. Scary stuff -- though the ship itself was pretty small compared to most commercial cruise ships you see nowadays (Royal Carribean, Carnival, et al). I still wouldn't suggest people be scared of taking a cruise for a vacation. They're pretty safe. Just like I wouldn't suggest people not vacation on the beach. Two people died here -- and that's a lot -- but just think of how many thousands of tourists died in the Tsunami a few years ago. Fact is, Spaceship Earth isn't always kind, no matter where we happen to be.

Zeddy -- the person filming what you saw was obviously filming *before* the major crashing wave that broke the windows in the movie. So, before you basically call that person a douche bag, maybe you should just think for a second that he could have been doing that when no one was hurt and things were just pretty scary. You could say, "well, he should have stopped immediately after the wave to help," but a) the situation was scary and everyone was clearly shocked and freaked out and b) people shouldn't complain about such things unless they've witnessed something of that magnitude and c) certainly, PLENTY of people went to help, some who were probably more experienced in dealing with things of that nature (nurses, etc.)... the camera person could have easily gotten in the way. Sometimes, in emergency situations, the best thing can *indeed* be to stay out of the way. It's the worst place to have "too many cooks in the kitchen."
