Bad pope:

"The Pope was drawn directly into the Roman Catholic sex abuse scandal last night as news emerged of his part in a decision to send a paedophile priest for therapy. The cleric went on to reoffend and was convicted of child abuse but continues to work as a priest in Upper Bavaria.
The priest was sent from Essen to Munich for therapy in 1980 when he was accused of forcing an 11-year-old boy to perform oral sex. The archdiocese confirmed that the Pope, who was then a cardinal, had approved a decision to accommodate the priest in a rectory while the therapy took place.
The priest, identified only as H, was subsequently convicted of sexually abusing minors after he was moved to pastoral work in nearby Grafing. In 1986 he was given an 18-month suspended jail sentence and fined DM 4,000 (£1,800 today). There have been no formal charges against him since."
The Vatican is claiming ignorance: "The cardinal could not deal with everything..."
Benedict XVI's spokesman says the Pontiff is being set up: "It's rather clear that in recent days there have been people who have searched – with notable tenacity – in Regensburg and Munich for elements to personally involve the holy father in the question of the abuses. To any objective observer it's clear that these attempts have failed."
In related news, the Pope's chief exorcist says the sex abuse scandals are proof the Devil is living in the Vatican.

Pope knew priest was paedophile but allowed him to continue with ministry [times online]
It would be nice if Ratzinger would simply fess up, take responsibility, and go away.
Hell will freeze over first, of course...........

It should be obvious to all that the Catholic organization is a racket. If it wasn't a religious organization it would have been banned and dismantled long time ago.

The Pontiff makes a stunning fashion statement in his dress. After so so so many diabolical examples of widespread abuse by this outfit why haven't we bankrupted them yet?

First...touche Patrick, quote of the day. Secondly, does this not make Razi complicit in a crime? Lastly, if all us gays would just become priest Razi would stop hazing us and instead would buy us pretty frocks and send us all on a nice retreat.

Now that that's out of the way, Papanazi is a slippery, evil bastard who will doubtless get out of this entanglement. Too bad. Here's hoping he dies soon. Perhaps while receiving a sherry enema from bill donohue...who dies in a tragic "boating" accident later on.

"the cardinal doesn't know everything"
Kind of sums up his directives on homosexuality....only he pulls it out when it suits him.

OK, so the Catholic church does not mind employing child molesters, but heaven forbid that a same sex couple send their child to a Catholic school.

Pope = Devil.

Seems to me it was quite clear at the time this man became pope that he was the man in charge of handling all forms of abuse by the church. He was the man who pardoned and relocated priests, so they could abuse again. He was the man who blocked access to church records and prevented civil and criminal investigations. He was the man who approved monetary settlements with victims. The buck stopped at his desk then and it still does. Why is this suddenly a surprise?

So let me get this straight...
As a Cardinal he doesn't know everything, ...
... but now he's pope he's infallible.
I hope I've got that right.

PATRICK NYC - "So the Devil does wear Prada."
ROFL!
Do these de facto pedophile enablers even realize what they're saying?

Worst. Pope. Ever.

I wonder if the homophobic Anglican/Episcopalian haters are having second thoughts about joining Joe Rat.'s criminal organization. In the unlikely event any of them were able to reproduce, their children could well end up being taught by pedophiles and sadistic nuns. At least with married and out gay Anglican priests, the risks are lower. If House and Senate committees can call Mr. Toyoda on the carpet - he obviously wasn't working on the factory floor when those cars were manufactured - surely they could compel Joe Rat. to appear; the Inquisitors would have to include a gay Jewish congressman, a Mormon senator, and some divorced Catholics! [Joe Rat. is probably related to Joe the Plumber. Nixon's problems all started with the Plumbers...] So much physical and mental suffering endured by thousands of young people - the worst has to include the 'residential schools' in Canada which were essentially genocidal torture factories run by the Catholic church and others. There is nothing holy about these predators and their enablers.

"At least with married and out gay Anglican priests, the risks are lower."
Not really... Pedos in christian denominations pretty much run the gamut. So much so, in fact, that a responsible parent would keep their kids from participating in church run activities where volunteers and reverends, priests, rabbis, etc...have direct unsupervised access to them.

Organized Religion: they all ought to be disbanded and their riches used to feed and house the poor. Fuck'em all. The Pope and all of his minions are beneath contempt as human beings.

He'll stay the Pope. There's no way they will get rid of him. I remember seeing on TV how they elect the Pope. God is supposed to be guiding them, so if they dispose of him, it's like saying that God was misguiding them. Nope. They won't do it.

isn't it about time for dobson, gallagher and all the other fof and others of this ilk to come charging foward to say the church is not
doing wrong and it is only the gays out to get them remember the pope is infalable. gee i thought was suppose to be God.

Unfortunately, Papa Nazi doesn't even come close to being the worst pope ever. Which I suppose says a lot about the nature of Catholicism in general.
The original fundraiser-in-chief, Leo X, printed "get into heaven" passes en masse in order to finance his elaborate dinner parties. Sergius III had his predecessor eliminated mafia style. Innocent IV and Urban VI enjoyed personally overseeing the executions of heretics, subordinates, and people they just didn't like. Alexander VI had illegitimate children with his daughter (yes, daughter). And one of Ratzinger's own namesakes, Benedict IX, had an auction where the papacy itself was sold to the highest bidder.
