  2. I dunno...
I guess 'A' for effort, but on the whole the song just doesn't kick it for me.

  3. Do they pay you to post this crap? Please post more music by GLBTQ artists for GLBTQ people.

  4. I actually like it, but am afraid she's going to be perceived as a GaGa immitator even though she preceded her.

  5. "Human Nature" and "Express Yourself" stand better as separate videos. I wonder why she decided to combine them into one?

Crutches couldn't prop up that boring song.

  6. i thought the song was a big yawn at first but after 3 or 4 listens, it definitely grows. catchy. and are the visuals meta or contrived - who cares anymore.

  7. express your human nature like a prayer

  8. That was awful. Gaga does the sexy, slither thing but there's always a sense of kookiness, and whimsicality to it. Like it's just supposed to be funny and ridiculous. New Christina here takes the moves, the look, the concepts too seriously it ends up quite whore-y, I think.

  9. dont forget...FREEDOM...GREAT GEORGE MICHAEL

  10. You know, she really is a beautiful girl, and can really sing. Why am I always bored with her no matter what she does? I loved Genie in a Bottle back in the day though.

  12. this video is just awful. derivative, no cohesion, desperate for attention but ends up being a big messy yawn. how sad for her, you can see she has tried really really hard. the director should be shot.

  13. End the bisexual double-standard... demand male-male sexuality in music videos! It's the only way we'll ever be equal.

    Ten minutes til Judge Wapner.

  14. I'm escarred, X-tina. Package your talent in something relevant, or pay [good] people to do it for you. S&M and faux bi-sex ... really? The reinvention isn't - to fight the GaGacé machine you gotsta bring out the big guns.

  15. Well the song IS titled 'Not Myself Tonight'... Xtina clearly isn't herself (in this video)... she's GaGa, Beyonce, etc etc etc...

  16. yawn...the song is just dirty 2.0 and the vid is well disturbing, in the fact that she felt she could rip off iconic madonna vids and wrap it in latex...and i don't get the gaga comparisons, while gaga is derivative of madonna et al. this is downright hack pop video theft...over styled, ridden hard and put away wet... someone may need a lesson in pop music in 2010

  17. Can we just enjoy it without comparing or bitching- it's a kick a** song and a beautiful video with intimations of other artists. I love it. thanks for sharing. GO Christina GO!

  18. I have no idea what the crap was re: GLBTQ artists comment. I believe Christina established herself as one of the gay icons when she released "Beautiful" back in 2002!

If she is not a "GLBTQ artist" I don't know who is.

  19. Hmmm lets burn something with my hair all teased out, havent seen THAT in any video recently. Fake lesbianism, oooooh thats new! Weird collars and fetish wear??? Come on! There isnt one original concept in this video half the stuff was done better in Madonna video's and Bad Romance! Theres so many split second scene shifts that it makes the dancing pointless to show. The song is utterly forgettable.

I was expecting a bit more from Xtina since she can REALLY sing. She has the archetypal "strong, black woman voice" so I think she should focus on visuals that are less bourgeoisie fetish porn and more urban or down to earth. I just hope more of the songs she collaborated on are better than this.

  20. "If she is not a "GLBTQ artist" I don't know who is"

What the hell does that mean? She's a straight woman who has a good voice, why on earth am I supposed to give a damn about her in terms of being gay? Oh well, I never gave a damn about Judy, Liza, Madonna, Cindy, Gaga and all the rest, I guess I'm just missing the "gay man must worship female perfomers" gene.

Go MUSE, Mastodon, Opeth and guys with guitars.

  21. This just seems beneath someone with her talent. With her voice and beauty she needs nothing more than a microphone to shine.

  22. I wanna like X-tina, but she makes it so hard ... This is straight up 90s plagiarism.

Hope the rest of her album is more interesting and unique.

  23. I'm diggin the hot boys.

  24. @Cameron: I am with you. I think she is actually doing an homage to all these iconic videos from the past..play acting. I like the references to past videos: George Michael's "Freedom", various references to Madonna's greats, Shakira, even some references to the great Leigh Bowery. I also like the song and the girl has definitely got chops. And...there is a reference to Britney as well.

  25. She is CLEARLY (and purposefully and transparently) referencing those iconic videos and looks. I am not a huge fan of hers or a Xtina apologist, but I think she knows we know what her inspirations were.
