Report: Warren Beatty's Daughter Wants To Have Sex Change

A report is circulating on the Internet that Warren Beatty and Annette Bening's 18-year-old daughter, Kathlyn, is making plans to have sex reassignment surgery to become a man. Unlike Chaz Bono, she has not chosen the masculine version of her name (which would be, what, Keith?), but is instead going the name Stephen Ira.

The Daily Mail reports:11

"Hollywood veteran Beatty, 73, is 'crushed' by his child's determination to change her gender. Meanwhile Miss Bening, 52, who starred in American Beauty, is trying to support her daughter as best she can, despite finding the situation heartbreaking."

"'Warren Beatty is beside himself over the situation with his daughter Kathlyn,' a source told the Enquirer. 'He and Annette have tried to deal with this over the years when their daughter was younger, but she's determined to go ahead with the transgender operation, just like Chastity [Bono]. 'She repeatedly told her parents that once she turns 18 she would take matters into her own hands.'"

If the reports are true, let's hope that Beatty and Bening eventually become as supportive as Cher has become with Chaz's decision.

  1. The real story here is why the fucking Enquirer and Mail think it's any of their fucking business to turn sexuality into a circus atmosphere.

    STOP READING THIS TRASH PEOPLE!!!

  2. Rather, the story here is why this blog is promoting trash like The Daily Mail and the Enquirer. I assume the next valuable insight on this developing story will come from the Sun.

  3. 1. "Sex Change" is prejoritve term, transition is a better way to characterize it.

    2. These are all unsourced and un-verified source. For god sakes leave the poor kid alone.

  6. "Meanwhile Miss Bening, 52, who recently starred as a lesbian mother raising children in The Kids Are All Right, is trying to support her daughter as best she can..."

  7. I think she could look quite pretty if she let her hair grow out and changed her style.

Gender reassignment is not something to be done on a whim, imho. Its different from breast augmentation and other frivolous plastic surgery.

  9. love this blog but you guys missed the boat on this one! is this a blog or a gossip rag? "sex change" is the same term used by the rags and fox news. is this really gossip worthy? compare the strength of this young person to the brain dead reporting by towleroad and it becomes hard to decide which side towleroad's suport falls. how about some education on the issue! how about some positive backing for the young person who chose not to use the "masculine version" of his name? how about staying above the rags and treating this issue with the respect it deserves?

  10. I feel sorry that this person has to deal with press on a very personal matter - they did not choose their parents, and thus, the spotlight.

  11. Annette Bening turned down attending the premiere of "The Kids Are All Right" here in L.A. the other night for "personal reasons."

    My best to everyone concerned.

  12. That has to be a tense situation for everyone involved. I hope it works out.

  13. Of course, if it's true, Stephen Ira will be changing his sex to match his gender.

And I agree with TED: take it slow doll.

  14. the annette bening press conference scheduled for yesterday afternoon at the four seasons in b.h. was canceled at the last minute due to 'personal reasons'.... my guess is she won't be doing a lot of appearences in support of the unfortunately titled (for her anyway) new movie....

  15. Gosh. If only this young lady would stop being so self-centered. Her parents are so much more important that her own happiness. Can't she just shut up and be the perfect little woman? Why doesn't she just learn her place?

  16. Ted, why would he grow out his hair and change his style,I'm assuming you mean more feminine, when he is transitioning to a male. I think you got a little confused. As for the surgery, I think he's had his whole life to think about it, I don't think anyone transitions on a whim.

  18. The rumor is the transition has already happened, and under a different name. Well, well.....

  19. @ missanthrope, dennis

Sex Change is a pejorative term? Really, is this just more way too PC sensitivity?

Why don't you all get together and pressure GLAAD to issue better guidelines as to what terminology is "appropriate" and "non offensive" instead of posting comments...which is like farting in the wind. Oops just passed one myself.

Did you write protest letters to WeTV when the series "Sex Change Hospital" aired? You know the show that features Marci Bowers, the leading "sex change" surgeon in the US who has has transitioned herself?

  20. Let's also hope that Kathlyn/Keith doesn't become grossly overweight due to excessive hormone and steroid use to the point that she/he is one small step from death's door.

  21. It's true! All of the little baby dykes look like justin bieber...bieber effect...and then when they get old and fat (and most of 'em do), it's buddy hackett...the hackett effect. From justin bieber to buddy hackett.

Anyway, whatever...I just don't care about this story or these celebrity people and their make believe lives and fake problems.

  22. I find it funny that Warren Beatty, who made it his business to fuck anything with two tits, a hole and a heartbeat is devastated that his daughter might be transgender. I mean, is he going to claim its morally wrong? He's hardly one to claim moral superiority. And both Bening and Beatty are outspoken liberals--are they just shit-talkers until it affects them DIRECTLY?

Having said that, I personally think 18 is a little young to make a decision to transition. I have known people who have considered themselves MTF and FTM and later realized they werent. NOT to say its not a valid identity, its just its one of the few irreparable things you can do with your body. Its not like getting a tattoo.

Add to the fact that your father is a notorious womanizer and you grew up in the f'ed up Hollywood scene and I wouldnt be surprised if Kathlyn has some issues to work out before making a big decision like this. Best of luck to the whole family.

  23. 18 is too young to get a sex change? That's nutso...given that hormones make sexual characteristics more prominent with age. Most transgenders look nightmarishly freakish...because they get the surgeries, etc, done later in life...and it's disgusting to behold (there are, of course, exceptions...the LUCKY exceptions). So perhaps eighteen and maybe below is a perfect time to get it done.

  24. "Sex Change is a pejorative term? Really, is this just more way too PC sensitivity?"

    Qjeresey:

No, it's a trans person telling you that it's a pejorative term. Deal with it.

  25. I just can't understand why a LGBT blog is just as transphobic and uninformed as the comment section f the daily mail.

The worst? Even the posts of the blog are transphobic! Stop misgendering him! If the story's true, then it's "he", certainly not "she", for god's sake.

And to all the "she's too young" (sic) etc.: It's like saying a 18 yo gay boy is too young to know he's gay, and should instead settle down with a nice girl, to try and be normal instead of going in the "wrong" direction. You'd scream it's bigoted to say something like that, so why do YOU say it?

To any potential young transgender boy reading this: You are not a freak. get information, don't read the crazies who don't know anything about anything. Transitionning is not dangerous for your health, and you won't look freakish after you do it. Take it from someone who knows any ftm trans people and actually knows what he's talking about.
