This Russian Businessman Paid $1 Million to Appear in Lady Gaga's Video for 'Alejandro'

Alejandro

This Russian dude, named Arkady, seen here in Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" video, has taken fan stalkerdom to a new level, reportedly paying $1 million to appear in the clip.

The Herald Sun reports: "The mega-wealthy Russian businessman -- identified only as Arkady by Moscow's Life.ru news website -- appears wearing an SS-style leather coat and cap in the scene in Alejandro, Lady Gaga's new single. 'Yes, it was me in the clip but I can't give further details,' he said. During the scene Arkady is seen staring moodily at Lady Gaga before hurling off his cap and moving closer to her. The Russian was described by the website as Lady Gaga's 'biggest fan'.

Video is HERE if you missed it.

  1. What a vile selfish man.
    The definition of evil.

Wasting a MILLION DOLLARS on this while people all around in Russia are literally starving or selling their family members out to the porn industry to survive (you have all seen those videos and you know it).

People have the right to do whatever they want with their money --- and we have the right to be disgusted with waste at this level.

And who did he pay it to ?

    Lady Gag ?
She is just the female version of Elton John then taking anyone for million to appear in a video.

  2. I hope she took the opportunity to talk with him about his countries record on denying LGBTQ rights. It would be cool if she donated that million dollars back to Russian gay activism.

  3. I'm not sure what the point of this article is, but apparently, unless you get Walter's approval on how you spend your money you are evil.

Is this guy gay or something? PR stunt? In Russia, 'business' can quickly turn deadly, so why is he exposing himself?

PS: numerous stars, including I think EJ, have played concerts for the birthday parties, weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs of the Russian elite.

  5. He looks like he's about seventeen. I wonder how he became a millionaire?

  6. it's his money and he can damn well spend it how he likes it.

it's just like wealthy brunei and saudi kings paying millions of dollars to entertainers for their lavish parties :P

  7. that's right, jake. You can be a tacky, unethical piece of shit, and it's completely legal... But so is criticizing a tacky, unethical piece of shit.

  8. @ Walter: Why oh why can't you just be happy for others fulfilling their dreams?

In fact, I blame the poor! If they all stopped selfishly procreating, maybe there wouldn't exist an entire class of people whose children can barely survive.

None of us should accuse the rich of spending their money how they want when poverty, hunger and other overused pity-memes, are 100% avoidable if people were less selfish and stopped fucking around, so to speak.

  9. drew, you're a disgusting human being. A disgrace to humanity. Just know that people like bill gates and warren buffett would find you an abhorrent primitive animal.

  10. I was wondering who that butterface was the kept showing up in close ups that didn't make sense.

  11. I doubt Bill Gates and Warren Buffett would give two shits, Tank. in case you didn't already know, Warren Buffett shares the same Fascist, Nazi, anti-Christ, anti-gay agenda as GaGa's handlers. obviously you've never heard of Bohemian Grove. look it up on YouTube. Warren Buffett, Lebron James and anyone else part of that sick sun worshipping cult don't give a flying fuck about the rest of us. GaGa is just a puppet to lead us to the Beast.

  12. I was wondering who the hell that was in the video. And Walter, get a life.

  13. So did he get to keep the coat and sweet leather tie?

  14. Tank, I've gotta think Drew's comment was tongue-in-cheek. "I blame the poor!" Really? I'm reminded of the Roman Senate scene in "History of the World, Part I" in which they all raise their fists and shout "Fuck the poor!" One can only think that Drew is actually Mel Brooks.

Of course, if the comment was made without irony, then I wholeheartedly second your response.

  15. @ Tank: Something tells me you're of the serious, I-Never-Laugh variety, lol.

  16. Well it's difficult to detect sarcasm when there are so many stupid people who post here regularly...in light of your other post chalking the republican apology to bp as a democratic "conspiracy".

oh, and I like to laugh...a lot...don't think for a second that I take anyone here or anyone...seriously... But, I also like to argue with people. It's fun.

  17. The video is mess- the director must have seen Visconti's "The Dammed" (all those pretty boys in hight heels), Guy Maddins weird movies and of course Madonna's "Express Yourself" which did the repressed homoerotic future world better.

    Posted by: jaragon | Jun 23, 2010 5:38:14 PM

  18. yeah, except that Madonna's "Express Yourself" video was an homage to the Nazi ideolistic future film, "Metropolis." the film is about the elite "Thinkers" living in the skyscrapers while the rest of the "Workers" live in the slums of the street. the Thinkers create a Satanic robotic slave that looks like Maria, a Worker, in order to mislead the masses with an agenda from the Thinkers. Madonna, Xtina and even GaGa have all blatantly refered to this sick ideology in their "art." that is why Xtina's "Not MySelf Tonight" video resembles "Express Yourself" at certain parts. GaGa even has the same haircut as Maria, on the cover of the Fame Monster.

  19. metropolis was a great movie! Gaga...not so great...kinda shit, actually.

  20. It has to be a record for the number of eyerolls TANK can elicit in a single post.

  21. well i cant blame em,her last few videos have viewership in the billions, smart man now he's FAMOUS!!lol he's "that guy!"

  22. The $1 million would have been spent on the video one way or another. The source is hardly relevant, and he's hardly the only corrupt Russian businessman who got his money by screwing over his fellow citizens and pillaging the state during the "privatization" of the 1990s. Course, he could also be mafia. (Though he does look young, so perhaps he inherited it from corrupt relatives.)

Sure, it'd be great if the money had gone to a better cause. But I say the less money he has, the better. Though for him $1 million is likely a very small drop in a very large bucket. This just continues the product placement everyone complained about in the Telephone video---but with a person as product.

  23. Apparently capitalism has firmly taken root in the former USSR.

  24. oh i thought from the whole vid he was the hot one even thought he was a model I even thought he was Alejandro (ugh just a normal yuppie).i tried looking for him but nothing came up and no one even marked the time where he came out now i know he sure is a hottie but paying 1 milli stupid.....

    Posted by: jesse | Jun 24, 2010 12:27:39 AM

  25. Actually, I think he's one of the most interesting things in the video, precisely because he's not model-hot. And I'd imagine that $1 million went to fund the production of the video, which surely did not come cheap. So good for Gaga for finding an alternate source of funding.

I wonder if other rockers will follow her lead, and get rich fans to bankroll videos. In a way, the collapse of the record labels is sorta returning artists to a patronage-based model. Nothin' wrong with that.
