Mega Hurts: Brit Synth Duo Confides in Kylie

I'm intrigued in a very 80's way by Hurts, the Manchester synth pop duo of Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson, who were mentioned earlier in this week's music post. Their debut album, Happiness, is out at the beginning of September, and features a duet with Kylie Minogue.

Here they are covering Kylie's track "Confide in Me" (via arjan). I've also posted the videos for their first tracks "Wonderful Life" and "Better Than Love".

Watch all the clips, and listen to the Kylie duet, AFTER THE JUMP...

"Better Than Love" and "Wonderful Life":

Here's the Kylie duet, Devotion:

  2. Love them. Wonderful 30s/80s fascist aesthetic, beautifully realised in the Wonderful Life clip. Badly let down by the silliness of the ballet clip howeer. But otherwise, great sound, great face, great packaging. They should make a big impact.

  3. I like them. And yes Andy, very early 80's retro... reminded me of one of my fav bands when I was a youngin' Split Enz.

  4. Amazing new band...LOVE their stuff! In contrast to Jimbo I have to say that even the ballet clips was great! Reminds me of an updated genre of the 80's synth stuff I was listening to at college! Formative stuff!

  5. I'm sorry but a pretty face can't save this band. Boring like a Former RNC Chairman coming out of the closet.

  7. I'm with you Graveetas. I can't tell you how much I wanted to like this and how uninspired I thought it was. It may be new to them, but it is not new.

  9. Hmmm....useful commentary or bitter trolling?
