  1. I think the protestors would win more sympathy if they stormed the baseball field with American flags.

There is so much mixed messages coming from these protestors. They are so so ethnocentric - Mexico is the best, we are Mexican...yet they want to come to the US.

If Mexico has such a great infrastructure and is so prosperous and well-run...why do they have to come here to begin with.

I think people have a right to be proud of their background - whether they are Chinese, Irish, Italien, whatever. But I feel that people coming here before WANTED to be Americans.

Whereas a lot of these new illegal immigrants look at it as "The United States should belong to Mexico."

It is truly bizarre. I would never go to Canada and insinuate it should be part of the U.S.

Either way - try waving the American flag. You are trying to come here, not stay in Mexico. If anything - you are trying to do whatever you can to get out of Mexico - obviously.

  2. @Tell it like it is "Whereas a lot of these new illegal immigrants look at it as 'The United States should belong to Mexico.'"

I seriously doubt they think that.

"Rapper Ne-Yo says that people think he's gay because he's never shot a person before"

Why are rappers so obsessed with being "gangsta" and having to resort to guns and violence? Also as homophobe is the new "gay," best thing to do would be to either shut up about it, or to say "I don't care"

  3. "There is so much mixed messages coming from these protestors. They are so so ethnocentric - Mexico is the best, we are Mexican...yet they want to come to the US"

You're being very ethnocentric when you interpret being an American as being just like you.

"Whereas a lot of these new illegal immigrants look at it as "The United States should belong to Mexico."

Nice way to beat down a strawman argument. Where are these legions of Mexicans declaring that the U.S. is a part of Mexico. Nowhere else than the made-up shit that Tom Tencrado spews.

"I think people have a right to be proud of their background - whether they are Chinese, Irish, Italien, whatever. But I feel that people coming here before WANTED to be Americans."

My Norwegian great great grandmother never spoke a word of english in her life. Yet she lived more years in America than she did in Norway. Italians, Poles, Germans, Scandinavians etc. often times created their own neighborhoods in cities and their own little towns in the midwest were very much like "home" in nature and where almost no english was spoken. Immigrants today are a lot like immigrants today.

  4. Um...Ne-Yo isn't a rapper...he's an R&B singer/songwriter.

  5. The Mexican flag for them has nothing to do with Mexico as a country. It only means that they refuse to be made to feel ashamed of who they are. It's no different than a gay pride parade. It's probably not the wisest form of expression, because it's very easy to misinterpret.

  7. Man storms the field at a baseball game to protest US policy....with a Mexican flag? Do illegals want to be part of Mexico or the US? Which is it? This reminds me of immigration advocates recoding a Spanish language of the Star Spangled Banner several years ago. A foolish move guaranteed to put the nail in their quest for amnesty.

  9. Re Sen. Hutchison: Come on, Kay. If she had a more complete judicial record, you'd find something in it to use against her too.

  10. Madonna directing a biopic of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor has "disaster" written all over it, however fascinating it sounds.

  11. The anti-immigrants crowd is really tiresome. They make up "facts" to confirm their prejudices and ignore economic analyses describing the benefits that immigrants provide.

As a result, they invariably sound stupid (or at least poorly informed) and racist.

  12. Yeah, using the Mexican flag to protest your status in America is not the smartest thing to do. But, who says people storming the field at a ballgame are the smartest people to begin with?

By the way, it was more fun when Bank One sponsored the stadium 'cause people called it 'The BOB' (the bank one ballpark). It's the little things in life, ya know.

  14. As a member of the party of NO, Kay Bailey Hutchinson never had any intention of voting to confirm Elena Kagan. Hutchinson was simply looking for the most politically advantageous excuse for not doing so and the "gay thing" plays directly to Kay's base. Quite honestly had Obama nominated Jesus Christ Hutchinson and her fellow Republicans would have found an excuse to avoid confirming him.

  15. Every time a Brit TV show is "adapted" for US audiences, it's prettied up, diluted in content and generally lacks the bite and energy of the original. QAF and The Office are pallid imitations of their roots. It's only occasionally that something like All in the Family offers something fresh (and that was probably due to shock value more than anything, since it quickly became so predictable). There are probably exceptions that I can't think of. An Americanized Skins is like light beer.

  16. David T, bs. Mexicans are coming here to take over the U.S. The Mexican government is active in pushing Mexicans to cross the border. The Mexican military have made several incursions into the U.S. and the Mexican embassy in New York City is patroling the area for crime against Mexican citizens.
