Tom Hardy Really 'Did' Say He's Had Sex with Men

E!'s Ted Casablance dug up the two-year-old Attitude magazine interview in which actor Tom Hardy was interviewed about his role in Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla. It's where the recently-published quotes about Tom Hardy's past sexual relations were sourced.

Hardyboy You may recall that Hardy's rep. said they were "taken out of context", which we now see is true. However, it doesn't change the essence of what Hardy was saying — that sexuality is more fluid than most people admit and that men experiment with other men — as he did once...

It's such a tradition of London gangsters, the gay thing, what with the Krays...

I wouldn't like to say. I really wouldn't. It's an unsaid, un-talked about thing. The military get it as well. Sexual relations with men in situations where it's a necessity, like prison, are different from being homosexual.

Have you ever had any sexual relations with men?

As a boy? Of course I have. I'm an actor for *beep*'s sake. I'm an artist. I've played with everything and everyone. But I'm not into men sexually. I love the form and the physicality but the gay sex bit does nothing for me. In the same way as a wet vagina would turn someone else into a lemon-sucking freak. To me it just doesn't compute now I'm into my 30s and it doesn't do it for me and I'm done experimenting.

Have you done it all?

Not all but I can imagine. We've all got an *beep* and I can imagine. It just doesn't do it for me, sex with another man. But there's plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life. A lot of gay men get my thing for shoes. I don't think I'm metrosexual but I'm definitely my mother's son. I have definite feminine qualities and a lot of gay men are incredibly masculine.

It interesting though, that Hardy's publicist, or whomever was assigned to complain that the quotes were taken out of context, pushed back so hard when the end result of the Daily Mail piece, "out of context" was to earn him a legion of new gay fans.

  1. I read the full article before Ted "I'm trying to stay relevant by appeasing the twitards" Casablanca's post. It pissed me off that your website and many others just posted what he said without doing any research.

  2. once again, people jumped the gun without allowing for proper context to come to light.
and this, mind you, happened on the heels of the shirley sherrod affair. it's like bloggers have really, really thick heads, that don't allow for information to enter. just as they were decrying fox and co and the andrew breitbarts of the world for the travails of one woman, they were pushing the unvalidated story about some other person. and now, this really funny "TOM HARDY REALLY 'DID' SAY HE'S HAD SEX WITH MEN". i mean, come on. it's ok to make mistakes, but only if you can learn from them. it seems you have not.

Now that's a great publicist! She (aren't they all unrepentant harridans?) calmed down the pubescent teenage girls with a firm denial that is the last thing any of them will read about this, while simultaneously revealing Hardy's far more titillating interview quotes for us homos to peruse and jerk off to. (love that part about sucking lemons!)

Also, can everyone everywhere stop paying attention to Bruce Bibby, er, Ted Casablanca now? His nom de plume is about as real as his scoops and just as precious and annoying as his black-and-blue prose.

  4. His character Eames has some extremely palpable homoerotic chemistry with Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Arthur in INCEPTION (even calling him "Darling") at one point. There's tons of slash-fiction devoted to the pairing already!!

  6. Regardless of what Mr. Hardy has or has not done, he is obviously gay-friendly, and isn't that really what it's all about? We need more straights like him on our side.

  7. Regarding previous commentary, sorry... I wasn't able to process all that. I'm still feeling dizzy and lightheaded after that picture.

God DAMN that man's fine. I'd sop all that mess up with a big ol' biscuit.

  8. So, an actor admits to having sex with men, though he prefers women. And, still, it's not enough. That there was any follow-up to the article is pathetic.

  10. Is this a distraction from the California decision.....?

  11. Yeah, enough. This was a Queerty-level fail of reporting, and it was pointed out to you from the beginning. And yes, it pays to be reminded of the reactionary nature of publicists and personalm managers, but come on.

  12. Actually when I first read the article, I initially thought he was talking about acting when referring to experimenting. But then visions of Tom and me doing the nasty clouded my judgment. No worries though. I'm still a fan.

  17. Tom, If you're reading this, we need more camera-whoring, please.

  18. Wow, for once "a lot of gay men are incredibly masculine". Let's hear this more.

  19. What does he mean by this, I dont get it?

"In the same way as a wet vagina would turn someone else into a lemon-sucking freak."

Is this himself he referres to? And lemon-sucking? Explanation?

  20. I think he's talking about how some people would find the sight of a wet vagina to be an enthusiastic invitation for oral sex. While others may not find oral sex appealing at all despite that (an illusion to him not liking gay sex, I suppose). And, judging how he called "lemon suckers" (lemon is a British slang for a woman's vulva) freaks made me suspect that he's not too keen on cunnilingus either.

  21. Tom Hardy whoever you have had sex with should consider themselves fortunate. You seem like a real stand up guy.
