'All Faggots Must Die' Blog Comment Traced to GA Senator's Office

Yesterday, following the DADT, Joe Jervis received a comment on his blog that read "All faggots must die". Joe began tracing the IP address of the comment, (its author identified himself as Jimmy) and discovered that it came from the Atlanta office of Senator Saxby Chambliss.

SaxbyChambliss Chambliss' office is investigating, the Atlanta Journal Constitution writes:

“We have seen the allegations and are moving quickly to understand the facts. This office has not and will not tolerate any activity of the sort alleged,” Chambliss spokeswoman Bronwyn Lance Chester said. “Once we have ascertained whether these claims are true, we will take the appropriate steps.”

The comment was posted on Joe.My.God., a blog dedicated to gay and lesbian issues, shortly after a Democratic bid to repeal "don't ask, don't tell" faltered in the U.S. Senate.

  1. An expected disappointment, but a disappointment nonetheless. A fish stinks from the head though...

The internet is not as anonymous as people think- I always remember that when I comment on Scalia & the stinkin' pope!

  3. That blog comment is simply horrible, criminal and full of hate. I wonder what makes a person to send such a comment.

  5. If you read Joe's blog you'll see he posted an update about how the comment now seems to have come from another GOP office.

That aside, the posted hate slur strongly suggests that "Jimmy" is a closeted gay person. How would he/she otherwise know about Joe's blog?

  6. "Once we have ascertained whether these claims are true..." as if they don't already know "...we will take the appropriate steps." i.e. deny that it happened and tell Jimmy to please be more careful next time.

  11. The buzz around DC has been that not only did it comes from Cambliss' Senatorial office, but the statement was quoted/paraphrased from the Senator HIMSELF. Isn't that great coming from as Senator. He should be recalled, but of course that will never happen in Georgia.
