Kieron Richardson, Star of British TV Drama Hollyoaks: I'm Gay

Richardson

Actor Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste Hay in the popular Channel 4 UK soap Hollyoaks, revealed on a morning show this morning that not only will his character be having a gay relationship, but he is gay too.

Said Richardson:

"When I was on Dancing on Ice, newspapers speculated and tried to say we kind of know and if you want to say you can do your story with us and get it out there. At that point, my personal life took a back step and it was more about the competition and trying to get through the next week rather than get a few column inches in the newspaper and maybe raise my profile at the time. But it wasn't about that. But now I feel that it's relevant and the storyline's relevant to some situations in my life then if maybe I can help people that are going through the same thing then it's a bonus."

  1. Good for him.

I long for the day when "coming out" instills no more trepidation than announcing that one is Jewish or attracted to blonds.

  2. It's so absurd that the phrase "I'm gay" is still making news.

  8. Tom: Ste is a common short form of Steven, maybe peculiar to some geographic areas. Recall that that one of the lads in BEAUTIFUL THING is Ste.
Fan: why assume or even speculate that he's a bottom simply because he's young, a typitwink, soft-spoken and articulate? And does it make any difference, anyway, since you'll never lay hands on his sweet flesh>

  10. Is China now mass-producing twinks, or was there an explosion at the twink factory...?

Where are all these out twinks coming from...

Maybe I just notice them more now, but I don't remember seeing so many twinks when I was this boy's age (granted, that was 20 years ago, but sheesh!). Makes me totally jealous of today's college kids (oh, and get off my lawn!)...;-)

  11. Hey, there are times after a long day watching internet porn when I'm convinced that I'm one of the few gay males under 70 (tho not by so very much) who isn't tatted, pieced and waxed. It's refreshing to see men with body hair sometimes. A bit of pubic trimming is good, and a way to keep some crabs at bay, but there's a limit to what I can stand.

  12. He's too pretty...grow a friggin goatee or something. Too soft looking, acting and talking for my taste.

  13. You realize that the degree of self loathing you exhibit, john, impacts how seriously one should take your screeds against hate crime complaints, right?
