Maddow Uses Colorful Language To Describe O'Reilly
Rachel Maddow and Bill O'Reilly's feud flew off the television and into the pages of New York magazine, where journalist Gabriel Sherman relays one of Maddow's more candid remarks about her journalistic rival, whom she reportedly referred to as a "race-baiting f-ck."
The remark came during one of Maddow's team meetings ahead of airtime, in the midst of the Shirley Sherrod scandal. Maddow had earlier suggested the scandal was another example of the right using race as a political tactic. O'Reilly responded on his Fox News show by saying, "One NBC News loon actually said on the air that the coverage of acorn, the Black Panthers, and Ms. Sherrod was designed to make white Americans scared of black Americans. Who is sponsoring this stuff, Mad magazine?"Maddow may joke and jest about O'Reilly on the air, but she's completely serious when it comes to making her point. The entire "race-baiting" anecdote:
Maddow thinks she’s settled on the appropriate comeback [for O'Reilly]. “I want to wear a loon suit,” she says, flashing a raffish grin. She turns to her staff and pretends to address O’Reilly as a duck. “Sorry, you really hurt my feelings, I am a loon. I’m on the Canadian dollar bill. It’s awful”—she pauses—“but you, however, are also a race-baiting fuck.”
...[She continued,] “I have leveled a serious charge about what’s happening with making white people afraid of black people as a political tactic by political activists, by people who want to harm the administration, and by Fox News as a political organization.”
Fox News would of course object to being called a "political organization," but recent revelations that parent company News Corporation donated $1 million to the Republican-loving U.S. Chamber of Commerce make for an interesting counter-argument

The republican parties "southern strategy" is well documented by republicans themselves
Nixon's own political strategist "........The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats. "
To keep southern whites from voting for their own economic self interests = democratic, the repubs know and have for a very long time done the whole race baiting BS to keep ignorant non wealthy whites voting for the party of the plutocrats
That FOX news is a propaganda arm of the repub party goes without question as well as the promotion of murdoch's elitist world view via the rest of his broadcasting and print media empire. He is considered a social criminal in many countrys outside of the USA for purposeful lieing about news to inciting political upheavel
that some nimrod worker in murdoch's empire wouldnt' be a race-baiter = instant firing from murdoch's empire

And all of Maddow's viewers gathered in a phone booth in celebration.

Faux News and Rupert Murdoch, an anti-American Australian who is slowly buying up all media outlets in this country, donated $1 million to the Repugnicants. His UK papers regularly wiretap members of Parliament according to lawsuits filed in Britain. Citizen Kane fantasies, anyone?

We could easily extend this statement to include lots of other minority groups (including ourselves, mexicans, muslims, etc)

You'd be surprised how many people were wiretapped in America after 9/11. I was, for one, and it was blatantly obvious. My boyfriend and I heard clicks and breathing all the time, simply because I was doing work for a "questionable" foreign country. It was a bad joke. They also tried to break into our email systems.
On the bright side, I didn't get phone bills for a few months.

I'm a huge fan of Rachel, she has a wonderful sense of humor and and her show is great work... but is it wise for a journalist to go on record dropping f-bombs about anyone in New York magazine?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and the one she shares is spot-on, as usual. However, I'd rather see the name-calling left to the Bill Maher's and Jon Stewart's in the media.
Rachel has a great future as a well-respected media figure if she wants it. Her voice and passion need to be a part of this country's future. I don't want or expect her to apologize, but I hope this is a one-off comment, so that she won't in the future be excluded from forums where "angry lesbians" aren't treated seriously.

The so-called southern strategy is real....but leftists / liberals also demonized ALL southern white people, so why are they shocked many southern whites think their best interests lie to the right and with Republicans? The leftists / liberals master-plan has always been to gain power through a hodge-podge collection of 'minorities' (many of whom actually have little in common in the real world) and radical malcontents like extreme feminists and far-left gays; whites, especially white males, were and are demonized as the root of all evil.
As for Maddow, she's competing with O'Reilly, and wants to associate herself with him in order to ride his coattails, after a fashion. She obviously (judged by ratings) can't hold a candle to O'Reilly, so she resorts to simply attacking him whenever possible.
And no, I have no real strong opinion on O'Reilly....watched him off and on and he's by and large in-offensive, contrary to a lot of the propaganda from the left. Although his boss Murdoch is an obvious ahole.

Sorry, a donation to the Chamber of Commerce does not make a interesting argument unless you accept two things:
1. The First Amendment doesn't apply to political speech.
2. That the teacher's unions are political organizations as well, since the donate far more than that to Democrats, and therefore they can't teach in government schools since they are a political organization.
Either free speech is for all or there is no free speech.

Don't you know, CLS, that free speech only applies to liberals, all Democrats are good, and all Republicans are evil.
You see, we preach tolerance but are really remarkably intolerant to those who have different political opinions.

Oh please--the left uses race all the time. (How about parading around Meg Whitman's illegal Latin maid?)
Generally though, they use race to GUILT whites, not scare them.

"All whites, especially white males, are demonized as the root of all evil" by the "LEFT". Are you serious?? Correct me if I am wrong but isn't Bill Clinton a southern white male? LOL
Teacher's Unions have the right to political speech, the same as NewsCorp. No one is saying otherwise but don't let facts get in the way of a point. They can rightfully be called on their BS if they are pretending to be something other than what they are. Get it? You gotta love it when anyone freely exercising their rights immediately wants to change the subject to their "free speech" being abrogated when the content of that exercise, and not the right itself, is challenged. You have to wonder if they must think their right to coexist is diminished by having to wait in line like everyone else.
"The left uses race all the time", for proof just looky here at an example (Meg Whitman's apparently informed employment of an illegal immigrant) that is only tangentially racial (because I said so) and is instead about the hypocrisy of being "tough on illegal immigration" while exploiting an illegal immigrant.
I've noticed an insurgence of what can only be described as a loud but few LCR types all over the place. The dissemination of that "call to action" memo must have been carefully executed.

Reposting BS doesn't change its value, CLS.

JTASKW:
Bill Clinton IS NOT a far leftwinger, and he governed as a MODERATE. In fact, the original reason he won was because he was able to persuade voters he wasn't the typical far left loon they were use to.
I stand by what I said RE the left demonizing white males. It's 100% true. They say everyone needs someone to hate or place blame. The left has 'boring' white males, especially working class white males.

Chris:
The teacher's unions are full of shit.
Posted by: ratbastard | Oct 4, 2010 7:31:31 PM
Maddow is a stupid dyke. Stick to driving your truck and dressing like a 17 year old boy.
Posted by: Mark | Oct 4, 2010 9:32:04 PM
91% of blacks approve of Obama and only 36% of whites.
Posted by: Mark | Oct 4, 2010 9:33:25 PM
Maddow.... no different from Oreilly. Just on the other side.
Posted by: HA! | Oct 4, 2010 10:19:52 PM
Oh, a bunch of racist, homophobic right-wingers are partying here.
Your insults change nothing, neither do your ridiculous numbers. Even with 100% approval among blacks, you couldn't come to Obama's approval rating without higher approval among whites.
False equivalences must be fun, "HA!".
And teacher's unions are full of shit? Probably not more full of shit than any other people. The really evil people in the education business are the lunatics who want to move all children into private religious schools.
A person that believes one can get excellent teachers without paying them a fair amount and without any job security is a real lunatic. Teaching isn't the same as working for McDonalds or Subway.
Any corporation, if business corporation or union, should be able to express the opinion of their members. But that shouldn't be the same as buying elections. Of course, the lunatics know that without directly buying election non-business corporations are more effective.
I think there's no question who is more gay-friendly, unions or the corporations that fund people like DeMint and Palin.

I don't mind right-wingers, until they stick their noses into my bedroom, try to destroy my marriage, block my family from the same tax benefits as straight couples, and try to jam their religion down my throat. Oh, and conduct witch hunts against gay teachers, dismiss violence against gays as imaginary, sponsor constitutional amendments to deprive people of their civil rights, bully those they can't control, block patriotic gay people from serving in the military, and generate hatred among the races for political gain. Oh, and oppose masturbation. Other than that, they're lovely.
