Walking up here on solid ground, amidst concrete jungles, desert locales or sprawling suburbs, it's easy to forget that our planet's actually a hot mess beneath its cool exterior. Daredevil Drew Bristol and his friends remind us of that fact with this video of Bristol's recent trip to the center of the Marum Volcano on Vanuatu's Ambrym Island.
Bristol wore a protective suit to get within 100 yards of the lava, while his film crew used a long lens from a far safer, breezy distance. And, no, they swear the footage has not been faked: "I don't fake things," said Bristol. "What would be the point of me traveling around the world to film volcanoes and earthquakes and then faking the footage?"
