  1. No. No. Just no. If it pales by comparison, don't do it... unless you WANT to perform in the lobby of the Holiday Inn. On a positive note, her band members are very cute.

  2. At her concert in Minneapolis on Nov. 14, Robyn sang this song. It was amazing to experience. Of course the crowd went crazy since Minneapolis is Prince's hometown. The studio version is nice. The live version was better.

  3. This is what it sounds like when doves are dying!!

  4. Not bad at all!

Thank GOD they didn't throw in some talentless rapper trash to destroy it - something most artists seem to do lots these days to appeal to the lowest order of taste.

  5. Sounds fantastic to me.

  6. Flat, boring. Her talent is not well used with this song.

  7. I thought it was great!

  8. It pales by comparison to Prince's original.

  10. Perhaps I have been living in a cave, but is this supposed to be someone reasonably famous? Will she now attempt to reprise the role of Scarlett O'Hara in a remake of Gone with the Wind? Girl, some things don't need to remade.

  11. Tessie, Robyn is the answer to better pop music. Both Body Talk albums are so...much more deserving to saturate the airwaves than the likes of whats top 40 today.

  12. I like all 3 Body Talk albums.
Indestructible is blowing up my car stereo!

  13. No. Off-key, flat and utterly devoid of the emotion Price put into it.

I don't buy into the idea that songs are untouchable, but if you cover it, you better do the song justice, and Robyn doesn't.

  14. that was fucking wretched

    Posted by: Donald | Nov 19, 2010 1:44:46 PM

  15. That was terrible and I can't believe it was released to the public. She's completely off-key and vocally it sounds forced. Definitely not one of her best performances/recordings.

  16. If you want to hear Prince's version of "When Doves Cry," go press play on his CD.

If you want to hear an innovative and unrestricted artist give a new and different interpretation to a Prince track, then you found her.

Robyn is the real deal. An unconventional pop star with genius leanings and talent that won't quit.

Don't be so quick to dismiss just because you were waiting hear an identical replay to a Prince song.

To get into Robyn, download "Be Mine," "Dancing on my Own" "With Every Heartbeat" and the acoustic version of "Indestructible."

You're welcome for the Robyn conversion.

  17. When the Scissor Sisters did their cover of Comfortably Numb, it was brilliant, but the Pink Floyd purists just couldn't get it.

Like any good cover, this sounds very different from the original. Interesting take on the synth riff.

  18. robyn could probably do a concert of farm animal sounds and it'd be great. i like that she makes that song her own rather than just doing a carbon copy of prince's orginal.

saw her 2 nights ago and she kicked ass. she's probably getting too famous now though so i'm guessing she'll not be playing many clubs that small anymore.

  19. no one is criticizing the fact she's doing something different with the song, we're criticizing her off-key, flat and emotionless vocals. There's a difference.

  20. so damn good! Robyn is amazing! Why would I want it to sound like the original? I could just go and listen to prince then! So good, so good!

  21. The real question is, who's the hot redhead on the keyboards?

  22. Nope, do not like.
