Watch: Barney Frank Eviscerates Conservative Reporter Over Gay Soldier Shower 'DADT' Question

A CNS News reporter tried to "gotcha" Barney Frank with a question about 'DADT' repeal and gay soldiers showering. Unfortunately for the reporter, Frank knew exactly where he was going. Watch the interview, AFTER THE JUMP...

Still, CNS tried to spin it the other way on its site.

  2. *hugs Barney Frank* That was the most dramatic gasp I have heard in some time, and it was so good at proving a point. Oh wait, he goes on past the gasp?

Hahahahaha! I love this man. I may just need to send him flowers for helping put that stupid argument where it belongs: in the trash.

  3. Can't we have a ban on stupid f@*$£ questions or a ban on idiotic dumb ass reporters ?

  4. Dammit, streaming media is blocked on my end. Anyone got a transcript of the awesome?

  5. Are they (CNS News) really, really serious? I mean come on! I've been to the gym hundreds of times. I've showered there hundreds of times. And never once have I caught "the straight".

  6. That gasp was priceless. CNS should be grateful Frank even gave them the time of day.

  7. Newsflash!

That fact will not change with the repeal of DADT.

I would also like to point out that it is STRAIGHT men, not gay men, who INSIST on public, open showers.

  8. what a spineless coward. the minute Barney blasts his stupid question to smithereens and counters, he hides behind 'people'.

  9. "We do not get ourselves dry cleaned" ahahaha. This is a great interview.

  10. People have often underestimated Mr. Frank. He is one of the smartest in the House and he can think on his feet. The bigoted little reporter never had a chance.

  11. He's quoting the Pentagon report pretty much verbatim, but I love how he gets in the guy's face about it.

I know there are lots of Barney haters on this site, and events like this prove why they're wrong. Year after year, he is voted by his colleagues and Congressional staff as the smartest member of the House.

  12. Bwahahahahahaha

Does CNS really consider that to be a valid question to ask? Please keep asking the dumb questions CNS. It will only make you appear more stupid and bigoted than the majority now realize that you are.

  13. Why would the CSN put up a report that makes their reporter look so idiotic and biased, and makes Barney Frank look so intellectually and morally superior?

  14. Poor reporter kid, couldn't figure out what was going on there!

  15. I'm amazed. I find Mr. Frank to often be a poor spokesman for our community. But this time he hit a home run. The only thing better he could have added is that if they don't want to shower with homosexuals, then they also shouldn't attend public OR private high schools. Because we are even there, and always have been.

  16. Reality has a liberal bias.

Religious Bigots, Internationalist Corporatists and Republicans have a conservative bias.

  17. Matt,

When did Barney Frank sew the "spokesman" button to his lapel? This is what irks me about minority communities: they feel like anyone in power "like them" has to represent "them" in all circumstances. That is insulting; the gay community is diverse, and includes many people who wholeheartedly disagree with Frank's political views. You probably find him a poor spokesman for "our community" because he isn't one; he is a spokesman for Massachusetts' 4th congressional district.

  18. @Jeff Kurtti above: The reason they would put this on the air is that they are another Faux News operation. I quote from their web site:

was launched on June 16, 1998 as a news source for individuals, news organizations and broadcasters who put a higher premium on balance than spin and seek news that’s ignored or under-reported as a result of media bias by omission.

Study after study by the Media Research Center, the parent organization of, clearly demonstrate a liberal bias in many news outlets – bias by commission and bias by omission – that results in a frequent double-standard in editorial decisions on what constitutes "news."

Now as we all know, there is no such liberal bias in the media, in fact, the bias is overwhelmingly corporatist conservative. So their entire purpose for existence is to be more conservative than the broader media.

Their founder is a nephew of William F. Buckley, and the son of an outspoken Catholic Conservative and advertising executive. They are well versed in producing PROPAGANDA, which is what this clip is meant to be. To any intelligent, or even most any educated (there is a difference), person this is a smack down by Barney Frank. But to the vast masses out there, this is still "OMG, They'll have to shower with Gays?"

  20. this reminds me of the dudes at the gym who will not take their towels off of them to change. they look ridiculous and often fall. why the paranoia?

    Posted by: jgm22 | Dec 22, 2010 1:03:38 PM

  21. There's a couple of guys in my gym that shower in their shorts. (rolling my eyes). If straight guys think that makes them "manly" they only succeed at looking ridiculous.

    Posted by: Brad | Dec 22, 2010 1:12:11 PM

  22. Articulate and sensible - thank you, Barney Frank. This little twit reporter is totally clueless.

    Posted by: steve | Dec 22, 2010 1:19:57 PM

  23. the reporter probably gets dressed in the closet where he spends a good deal of time.
he thinks because he peeks everyone does. wtf is a cns anyway. too many news services for the public good and if this the quality of reporting hopefully it won't be around for long.

    Posted by: walter | Dec 22, 2010 1:21:41 PM

  24. Well, that wasn't a fair fight.

  25. "this reminds me of the dudes at the gym who will not take their towels off of them to change. they look ridiculous and often fall. why the paranoia?"

"There's a couple of guys in my gym that shower in their shorts"

Funny. At the gyms I've attended, there are guys who wear glasses into the showers; guys who spend 30 minutes in the shower; guys who take 5-10 showers within an hour; and guys who take 30 minutes to get dressed after showering.

Gee, I wonder why those other guys are so paranoid. Oh wait, who looks ridiculous again?
