  1. That story on costly homophobia is odd. The couple has a litigious history and one in which they have admitted to "baseless" accusations in the past, according to the article.

  2. Guess those rumors that Owen castrated himself during his "suicide attempt" weren't true

  3. "I was never in"--BS. I'm glad that more celebrities are coming out, but it's hard to feel too proud when doing so is invariably linked to promoting an autobiography or new album.

Of course no sane person is surprised that Wier is gay, but he's been skating the issue for years, probably for fear of losing endorsements. I can understand that, but he's a catty, flamboyant figure skater. I respect and am amused by some his ballsiness and attitude at times, but this is flatly untrue, and so seems more like cowardice.

I'm also wary of the trend toward people writing autobiographies in their early to mid-20s, though his is likely more compelling than, say, Snooki's.

  4. Hmmm. And all this time I thought the reason why gay sports bars were becoming more popular is because it's fun to sit in a bar, have a few brewskis and watch sports. Stupid me.

Beware the "disposable income; no children" meme. It's homophobia in disguise.

  5. Oh for chrissakes. It's not homophobia in disguise. It's bar owners (and others) wanting to make money, not at all in disguise.

  6. San Francisco had gay sports bars back in the early 1970's, when the first organized gay softball league in the country started with 6 teams. Today there are over 50 cities in the USA, with sport leagues and Organizations. In 1978,in San Francisco, over 2,000 fans were on hand for the season opener, including Mayor Moscone throwing out the first pitch. Later over 8,000 fans came to the annual Peach-Fuzz(Gay/Cops) game. During the season, it was a tradition for the winning team's bar to host the losers... and gave fans something to do on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Gay newspapers had sports pages. When the 49ers were playing, many regular bars were filled besides the gay sports bars. Now, almost every city with Professional teams are filled when ever their team's play.. One more thing... here, there and everywhere... many season ticket holders are gay, and the PRO-teams have special OUT Days at MLB ballparks that attract thousands of gay fans. Not that there's anything wrong with that...
