Watch: Stand With Louis Marinelli In Support Of Marriage Equality

Louis
NOM defector and New Yorker Louis Marinelli has posted a short video declaring his support for marriage equality and asking others to do the same on his YouTube channel. The video is not part of the HRC's "New Yorkers for Marriage Equality" campaign. Marinelli created the clip on his own and it is the first one uploaded on his new, re-themed channel.

If you missed our interview with him last week, read it here.

Watch the video, AFTER THE JUMP.

  1. This was a good-hearted gesture. I know there are some that are leery of Louis because he worked for NOM, but I take this at face value. Why? Because it costs you nothing to do so.

We've got to stop biting people who are homophobic and then come to the realization that they were wrong (as if they need to be punished for that). If Maggie Gallagher herself woke up one morning and said she realized she was all wrong, that marriage equality is for everyone regardless of gender, I'd instantly forgive her. Take it at face value. You have nothing to lose. We are seeing a lot of these conversions from long-held beliefs (Bill Clinton, Laura Bush, even Glenn Beck).

Don't be vindictive when somebody offers an olive branch.

  2. How weird. He's a "New Yorker for marriage equality" but why is he standing in front of the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg to deliver this message??

  3. This kind of publicity for marriage equality, coming from the guy who organized the summer NOM bus tour, is always valuable and useful, regardless of Marinelli's motives.

Having said that, democracy in the U.S. is regularly subverted with large amounts of money, and the fight for marriage equality is no exception. Marinelli still needs to share what he knows about where the big money that financed the expensive NOM TV ads came from. People have a pretty good idea that it was the Catholic and Mormon churches, but it would be nice if Marinelli publicly verified that.

  4. As a post script to what I said above, investigative bloggers have been remiss in not thoroughly documenting the sources of NOM's money. When Woodward and Bernstein were investigating the Watergate break-in, their informant, Deep Throat, always told them, "Follow the money".

  7. This guy is like bi-polar. A real extremist.

    Hmmm...

  8. If Marinelli really wants to right a wrong, he'll come clean with ALL of NOM's lies, trickery and deception.

  9. @ Arundel: if I had to guess I'd say he met a cute Russian boy in his travels and went to visit him.

  10. Yes-- trying to heal the damage caused is a good step, way better than just going "oops" and doing nothing. Better than so many US politicians, anyway.

  11. Wow - this guy gets around. St Petersburg, Russia! Must be nice. How much longer til he comes out?
