Harold Camping Moves Goalpost: October 21 is the New Rapture

Newrapture_camping

In a new interview with reporters, Family Radio broadcaster Harold Camping admits he was wrong about the doomsday date and sets a new date for The Rapture — October 21. Oh, and by the way, they've been saying that all along.

AP:

Through chatting with a friend over what he acknowledged was a very difficult weekend, it dawned on him that instead of the biblical Rapture in which the faithful would be swept up to the heavens, May 21 had instead been a "spiritual" Judgment Day, which places the entire world under Christ's judgment, he said.

The globe will be completely destroyed in five months, he said, when the apocalypse comes. But because God's judgment and salvation were completed on Saturday, there's no point in continuing to warn people about it, so his network will now just play Christian music and programs until the final end on Oct. 21.

  6. New Rule: If you declare the end of the world on a certain date, you must kill yourself by midnight that day.

    Enough frightening the children.

  10. He is digging a deeper and deeper hole with all this "What I REALLY said was..." nonesense. You predicted it to end last week and as expected it didn't come true, now he is re-writing history to make it seems like he never said it would actually end then at all.

If people are stupid enough to believe him (which luckily most christians dont), then more power to him. Someone needs to herd the crazies so we know where they are.

  12. And Dave, he's relevant because he cited the growth of gay pride as one of the "sure signs" of the End of Days. And he was wrong (of course). So more power to us and less to our enemies.

  15. If I've already been judged, does that mean it's too late for salvation? If so, can I quit listening to all these religious nut jobs and get back to work on my Homosexual Agenda.

  16. Ok...enough! The media needs to just stop with this nut case! No more exposure and free advertising!

  18. Lol, I'm sure there were quite a few commenters here who thought he would show remorse and "pay the money back" that he swindled out of those believers.

Yep. As if these fundies ever do that.

  19. Translation: "We need more time to collect all the donations. First, my credit card processor didn't get all the transactions cleared by Saturday like they said they would. Then the bank called and said there was some problem with the lockbox receiving all the checks. God damn it! How the hell am I supposed to Fukushima all those dopey religious freaks if I can't get my hands on their money? Jezzuz F'n Christ!"

  20. GIVE IT A REST! what next? the october Rapture is really a rehearsal for the REAL rapture? than the next one is just a tech rehearsal? than we have the "Preview" rapture which, eventually will lead to the "Opening Night" rapture? Face it, you're a FAKE, Camping. you're a "false prophet" - a horrible sin in the eyes of your God... MOVE ON!

  21. This story is now only of any interest to people who study how people continually manage to deceive themselves and others in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Otherwise - snooze. Go away. You have zero relevance.
