Morning Music: Low Covers Toto's 'Africa'

Toto's "Africa" has always been one of my favorites. Here's a soothing, rather beautiful cover of it from the band Low to ease you into your Friday morning.

  1. Wonderful. Africa has always been one of my favorites as well.

For a completely different take on the song, you might enjoy Perpetuum Jazille's version on YouTube:

... or not B-) The introduction is extremely quiet.

  7. Love the song too, but did you guys know the part about "Sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti..." is often called some of the worst lyrics in history? That part always makes me snicker. It really is terrible.

  8. I don't get this version, and have never gotten the jazzoboobadoo one either. But I like what's done with this one:

  9. Sadly, my immediate reaction to this post was actually, "What? It's Friday morning?!?" So apparently I really needed this. Thanks!

  13. Their version sounds like it should be on the "Legend" soundtrack. Love it.

  16. James. That Mike Masse/Jeff Hall version is amazing! Excellent!

    One more:

Acoustic guitar solo from Andy McKee -- no vocals. He has done several versions of this song on YouTube.

  17. Not sure about the extent of their homophobia, but they have said (in the doc about the band) that they tithe, so they gave money to Prop 8.
