Santorum Supporter Heckles Fred Karger for Taking Up Some of Her Anti-Gay Time at the State House: VIDEO

Karger

Gay Presidential hopeful Fred Karger wasn't allowed to debate in New Hampshire but he got heckled (and amused) by a Santorum supporter (see bumper sticker) angry that he took some of her anti-gay time and dared to even set foot in the state

The woman who confronted Karger in the video, Karger said, was a Rick Santorum supporter who was apparently upset that Karger had testified in favor of marriage equality during a February state House hearing — thereby taking away her own time to speak in favor of two bills that would repeal gay marriage in the state.

“Go back to California, Fred. You’re not in the debate,” the unidentified woman said. “You don’t belong here. You took up my time at the state House when I went up there to testify, and you don’t even belong in this state.”

  1. This woman has no idea what she is talking about.

The hearings were open to everyone; no one was denied the chance to speak and every speaker had a time limit.

Fred was not the only out-of-stater to speak. This woman should also criticize Maggie Gallagher for speaking at the same hearing.

  3. What concerns me is that people this uninformed can vote.

(Oh Good Lord, she's probably even reproduced!)

  4. Because he's looking for a better class of boyfriend.

  5. Someone remind me again why this guy is a Republican again? Does he enjoy being heckled and despised by a sizable chunk of his own party? Does he relish at not being invited to any Republican debates while less qualified "candidates" like Michelle Bachmann are?

Look, he can have his conservative views but it's just pathetic to so desperately want to belong to a group that doesn't welcome your presence. Maybe someday that will change, and I hope it will, but for the time being it is reality.

  7. Karger's run is a statement.

He knows full well that he'll never get the nomination or even close. However, his running tells the Right that they have a fairly high-level member who is out and gay. His running says "Change your outlook." When one of their own is gay it means a lot more and says something bigger. They can no longer point their finger only at us and say "THEY'RE different, they're not us." His running pokes a stick into the soft, cellulitic rump of the GOP, and as long as it does, he'll continue to be their annoyance. I say good for him.

Seriously, he serves a larger purpose, and that purpose may not be recognized fully for what it is at first glance by many people on both sides.

  8. Go Fred! He is doing great things. Not only is he pointing out to Republicans that they need to change on gay issues, but he even filed a formal complaint against Mitt Romney accusing him of committing voter fraud in Massachusetts (while he and his wife supposed lived in his son's basement)instead of one of their mansions. Go, Fred, Go!

  9. What galls me with gay republicans, an oxymoron if ever there were, is why none of them are ever allowed to take the stage at a convention to address equality? They claim the GOP is an all inclusive party. Since when? Where is the evidence for that when it votes in lockstep to block every equality related bill affecting the lives of millions of gay people? Has the GOP drafted any bills supporting equality issues? I just don't get it. Is being accepted by the GOP so important to gay republicans when in all reality, their party really doesn't when it votes against us. Why can't they see that?

  11. I have little problem with gay Republicans when they actually stand up for equality and don't pander to the religious right. I agree with Johnny; Karger's running for president is meant to send a message to other Republicans. I have much more respect for Fred Karger than the people over at GOProud who seem to oppose gay rights in any capacity just to be accepted by conservatives. Karger knows his views aren't accepted by most of the Republican party, but he sticks to his guns. I say good for him.

  12. The fact that he's blocked from participating says a lot about the Republican "Big Tent." (Of course, everything Republican has an asterisk and a list of exceptions.)

  13. The fact that he is barred from the debates says the GOP is just flat out intolerant of anyone who isn't like them.

  14. WELL gosh darn, Maa! The cows need to be milked - that should take up your time.

Trash! Not even a minut threat! She wasted Fred's time, for sure!
