Mitt Romney Makes 2012 Presidential Run Official, Attacks Obama

Romney

Mitt Romney wasted no time going after Obama as he announced that he would be seeking the Republican nomination for President in 2012 on a farm in Stratham, New Hampshire.

"A few years ago, Americans did something that was, actually, very much the sort of thing Americans like to do: We gave someone new a chance to lead, someone we hadn't known for very long, who didn't have much of a record but promised to lead us to a better place...At the time, we didn't know what sort of a president he would make...Now, in the third year of his four-year term, we have more than promises and slogans to go by. Barack Obama has failed America."

Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

Remember Romney's parting shot at gays last time he ran? Let's not forget.

In a speech announcing he's suspending his campaign, he also took the time to ponder the "attacks on our culture," among them gays and lesbians who want to marry and the "liberal judges" who would give us equal rights.

Said Romney: "The development of a child is enhanced by having a mother and father. Such a family is the ideal for the future of the child and for the strength of a nation. I wonder how it is that unelected judges, like some in my state of Massachusetts, are so unaware of this reality, so oblivious to the millennia of recorded history. It is time for the people of America to fortify marriage through constitutional amendment, so that liberal judges cannot continue to attack it!"

  2. I wonder if he is able to tell us, in light of his statements about Obama, what he thinks it is that GW Bush did that entitled him to even his first term.

Meanwhile, I guess Mitt hasn't heard that both GM and Chrysler have posted large profits, that Chrysler paid off its debt 7 years ahead of schedule; that unemployment is slowing; that the economy is growing again and that Obama has gotten in place a healthcare package like the one he--MITT-put in place in Massachusetts.

It's not easy to figure out what ol' Mitt's talking about.

  3. Failed us?

I'm pretty sure Obama is an American Hero because he caught/killed Osama Bin Laden.

    what did you do Mitt?

    sorry, I can't hear you.

  4. Yes,Obama failed us. He hasn't yet repaired the massive damage to the American economy caused by the past Republican President. You know Mitt, the one who pushed the same policies you support. The same policies that caused the problem.

  5. I, Romney. I, Robot.

  6. Gay people (as well as the youth vote and minority vote) sat on their asses in 2010 and didn't vote -- so right-wingers got elected to Congress, state legislatures and Governors. Romney (and almost any Republican) will beat Obama in 2012 if these same groups don't come out and vote in 2012. While the economy, foreign wars, health insurance, etc are all going to affect the result, it really comes down to a question of turnout, pure and simple.

  7. he's tired...very tired.

  8. I love how these types always assume that there's a male and female role in gay relationships, yet say a child should never be raised by two men.

Anyway, he's too robotic, Mormon, and just plain dull (see Kerry, 2004) to get elected president.

  9. Since MA is a state where homo marriage is legal, are there studies that make it clear that het marriage has not been impacted? It seems a lot of the bigoted rhetoric comes from this argument. My suspicion is that allowing gays to marry has had little negative impact on the residents of the state.

  10. If the stock market is an indicator, the Dow closed at 8218.22 on President Bush's last day. The stock market closed today at 12,248.55 which equates to just over 49% increase in just 2 years and 5 months. I imagine that is a positive for those with a 401k, retirement accounts or investments. Success

President Obama found, caught and killed Osama Bin Laden. Success

President Obama's reign saw finance reform and health care overhaul. While not perfect, it was certainly more than any other president was able to accomplish. Success.

Unemployment has been slowly improving. Considering corporate America has been sending jobs overseas, downsizing and restructuring people out of jobs, I'd say any decrease in the unemployment rate is a pretty good accomplishment. Success.

Wound down our involvement in Iraq. Success.

Corporate profits are at an all time record. Success.

Tax rates are at a 60 year low. Success.

While some of these accomplishments could be improved, I'd say the future looks much brighter than had McCain/Palin won in 2008.

  11. Frankly, this election is already decided.

Save the billions that both Democrats and Republicans are going to spend, and send us to the polls now.

President Obama 2012......anybody who votes otherwise is a bigot, or just plain stupid!

  12. Romney proved in MA that he would say whatever he thought would get him elected.

He too now has a record that will follow him through any election cycle.

I dont trust him as far as I could throw him.

  13. Andrew

A huge highlight of that fact.....Mittens is anti-choice now BUT when running against Ted Kennedy for Kennedy's senate seat , Mitt's wife wrote a very public (called in the media) check for planned parenthood

Mittens is just as much a grifter as pallin but just of a different sort

  15. Our other Ann Otoole -- who I like to think of as the *real* Ann Otoole! -- has suggested that she has greeted some of these cars with a certain kind of weapon that works to drive it off its path. Is there something collective we could work out in this vein?

  16. I'm not ready for a Mormon president. That scares me. Anyone super religious freaks me out. Separation of church and state is at risk. I'm tired of millionaires running. I'm tired of mittens already because he is backed by the mormon church, who were instrumental in getting Prop 8 passed by implementing a misleading ad campaign, etc. When exactly did the mormon church allow black people to join? the 1960's? No. In 1978 mormon leaders facing mounting political pressure due to their racist policies, held a meeting with god, and he told them it was o.k to allow them in the temple, and in effect attain priesthood. i don't know if their are any black priests. In 1973, some higher up referred to blacks as 'darkies'. Creepy.

  17. He just looks very odd here: disheveled with a wrinkled shirt, and the hair looks ridiculous.

  18. I'm not too worried about Mitt. If I remember correctly, he didn't win one Southern primary last time around...at least in part due to Fundie bigotry against Mormons. I don't think much has changed. I don't think Southern Evangelicals are going vote for someone they don't think is a "Christian."
The Republican nomination "goes through" the South. I don't see how anyone can win the nomination without carrying the Southern states. It may not be pleasant or pretty, but I think it's reality: Evangelicals ain't gonna vote for a Mormon.

  19. When he was governor of Massachusetts, he supported gay rights, but when he went national, he switched his support to bigotry. It's painfully obvious that he sells his political positions to the highest bidder. He's not a member of the political profession. He's a member of the oldest profession.

  21. Run Mitt! Your ignorance combined with your religious beliefs will be enough to scare voters into re-electing Obama. Please consider picking Trump as your VP - it would be the icing on the cake!

  23. I wish that everybody would read the book "When Salt Lake City Calls" It tells why a Mormon should NEVER be elected as President of the USA. It is available on Amazon... Share it with family and friends!
