Former NY Giant David Tyree Comes Out for Inequality as NOM's Latest Spokesbigot: VIDEO

Tyree

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) released a video today featuring former NY Giant David Tyree speaking out against same-sex marriage.

Says Tyree: “Marriage is the only relationship that actually mirrors a relationship with God — it’s very unique in that way...If they pass this gay marriage bill...what I know will happen if this does comes forth is this will be the beginning of our country sliding toward...anarchy...That will be the moment our society loses its grip with what is right...I don't believe that truth is subjective...If you redefine [marriage...it changes the perception of what is good, what is right, and what is just..."

Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

Giants fans should note that former Giant Michael Strahan as well as NY Giants owner Steve Tisch posted videos this week in support of marriage equality which you can watch HERE and HERE.

  4. "Marriage is the only relationship that actually mirrors a relationship with God"

Does that mean he wants god to get him a beer, make him dinner and then have sex with him before he passes out?

  5. "Two men will never show a woman how to be a woman."

And what does "be a woman" mean?

There are so many things wrong with this it's not even worth fully deconstructing. This guy is an idiot.

  6. Funny, I have no idea who this is. I don't think anyone else does, either.

Oh, he's the helmet catch guy from the Super Bowl. Okay, besides that?

In other news Steve Young fully supports repealing prop 8 and is more popular and better looking and a Mormon, no less.

So David Tyree can suck it. Figuratively.

  7. chrissypoo nails it. God (the husband) and man (the wife) are in a relationship that mirrors marriage (as it existed when the Bible was written). God owns us, he inflicts his issues upon us, we work like slaves, he makes all the decisions, he might decide to get rid of us and then where would we be, God forbid we might think for ourselves . . . it really makes a lot of sense. Sorry God, I wouldn't marry you if you were the last social control mechanism in the universe.

  8. Thanks for the update, Joe B!! I had no idea Steve Young was a good guy on the Prop 8 issue. I like knowing when there are reasonable Mormons so I don't have to always put the second "m" in parentheses.

  9. Oh how cute. A has-been with an opinion on something he's not smart enough to understand. Run along and play ball now. The adults are discussion legislation.

  10. ahhh spoken like a Black man who's never had to fight for HIS RIGHTS...he lives off the backs of those who fought long and hard, so he can have a nice life...what a prick he is.......he needs to LEARN his history.

  11. So, they are now so desperate that they seek the auspices of some "sub-literate" fool who could at best boast about his abilities to catch a ball...bounce, bounce, bounce!

    Give me a break!

  12. I find, again, it's the knowledge claims made by our opponents that is really bothersome because they are completely ignorant. Surely stating that you believe that truth isn't subjective kinda shows that it *is* (philosophical/ anorak point!)
Again, the "why" of why a straight man should be so interested/ threatened by same-sex relationships comes back to men's power over other men. So I feel the need to ask why Tyree is so insecure as a man that he needs to regress to a homophobic bully?
We'll probably find out next week that he's also a lesbian blogger too!

  13. Oh how cute, his imaginary sky wizard friend told him to be a straight supremacist.

  14. I haven't heard such doomsday, over the top statements since, well, since growing up in Mississippi listening to adults crying and wailing about the utter destruction of the country and all things holy that the upcoming Civil Rights Act of 1964 was going to bring.

    Ironic isn't it?

  15. You know, I really think athletes should be responsible for all of our policymaking and resolve legislative debates with their words of infinite wisdom.

    Posted by: Paul R | Jun 15, 2011 6:16:43 PM

  16. Does he have any idea what he's talking about?

And it shows me how far we've progressed that Strahan and the NYG owner supporting marriage equality has gotten TONS more national attention than this has-been coming out against marriage equality. Things truly are starting to get better, finally.

  17. Oh boy, NOM has found a real winner this time. Tyree also claims, after years of alcohol and drug abuse during his playing days, he was possessed and began slithering off the couch like a snake, saying "I'm the devil". You can't make this stuff up.

  18. Is it my imagination, or is his head shaped like a penis?

    Posted by: Bob | Jun 15, 2011 6:28:40 PM

  19. So he's saying that christian men are in a gay relationship with God, since they all believe he's male.

    Posted by: Bravo | Jun 15, 2011 6:32:57 PM

  20. Well a couple things, first off he is A "Former" NY Giant, secondly, he lives in NJ! So thirdly STFU asshat! All he really can do is read the cue cards!!

    Posted by: alexInBoston | Jun 15, 2011 6:33:46 PM

  21. David Tyree should duly note that the Bible he so adheres to is the same Bible that justifies slavery. Nuff said.

  22. If we allow blacks to marry whites, it goes against God's word. It will change society as we know it.

    Posted by: adam | Jun 15, 2011 6:35:57 PM

  23. So what is this? An articulate black man that doesn't have a clue.

  24. And nobody knows God and what God thinks like a big, dumb ex-football jock.

    Posted by: candideinncc | Jun 15, 2011 6:45:32 PM

  25. the man is a has been or actually a never was.
nom must be desperate to dig up this clown to record a message of support. bible allows for slaves stoning concubines polygamy and various other things so what. does it make it right. the bible is the largest fiction novel in the history of man. maybe time for it to go out of print.
