  1. He's a god - and not just in the looks department. A fine role model for all men.

  2. OK, first of all I want to say I appreciate everything Ben Cohen has done in his work against LGBT bullying as a gay ally.

I've been sort of following this story but not very closely, but I'm curious why a UK rugby player has taken this on to the degree he has. Why this issue as opposed to any other?

  3. Ben's father was a pub owner who was murdered while protecting a customer who was being attacked. Standing up for others is in the Cohen blood, apparently.

He really is extraordinary, but he comes from extraordinary stock.

  4. When I did an interview with him for our magazine, we also talked about the fact he's clinically deaf, which in some ways, is like being gay--it's an "invisible" quality for many people around you. But it also means he has a first hand experience of what it can be like to be discriminated for who and what you are. His focus is on standing up against bullying not only as a gay issue--and he's also done some supportive things for young deaf players and wants to do more with them as well.

  5. This guy is just an angel. Maybe it can be explained, maybe not. But the current close-face cover shot of him in Out magazine is striking - you can see the deep twinkle of love or concern or compassion (or all of these) in his eyes. Just as in the face of Paramahansa Yogananda, both faces that engage and uplift the soul.
    What a human being.
