  2. One can make too much of the fact that he's gay, but it's also true we really don't suffer fools gladly as a people.

  4. REALLY?

That is utter rubbish. How long has it taken you guys to get any rights in the US? In the UK we majorly needed the help of the liberal do gooders. Ben Summerskil happens to be incredible as Stonewall CEO and you also have a relentless campaigner like Thacthell who just won't quit and isnt insane like Choi the republican.

But that's it really. Chris Colfer had the perfect chance to call Bachmann on her behavior when she asked for his autograph but the dimwit thought that it was more powerful message to accept.

Moron. Yeah, you've really affected change Chris! She really listened to you!

  5. One can never make too much of the fact that a handsome and intelligent man with integrity and charima who strives to do what's right professionally, culturally and socially is gay.

    Never. Never, never, never.

Take that, Michele and Marcus Bachmanns of the world!

  6. What is this guy talking about, I thought this was a video about Don Lemon.

  7. Lemon has never struck me as someone with the face (and maybe even voice) for very hard news. Hard news news tends to favor anchors with more, shall we say, battered looks and steely voices: Amenapour, Spitzer or even the old black guy. Him and the Coop tend to look to "clean" for breaking hard news. That's just my opinion.

  8. What a stretch for a story. Jon Stewart is an ass.

  9. Um...I'm really confused. Is there some error going on with the comments?

  11. For those of you who missed Stewart's point, this is a cable news anchor who dislikes the usual mindless fluff. I don't watch enough CNN to know whether Lemon is just another pretty face or has gravitas for hard news. In any event CNN will never be the Nightly news on PBS or even the BBC. In the context of this subject the anchor's sexuality is irrelevant.

  12. The problem is that on some days there just isn't enough "exciting" (ratings worthy) news to fill the 24 hour cycle at cable news networks. So, instead of putting on something vaguely polemical (such as a Keith O or Rachel M style opinion show), CNN resorts to reporting on crap. Or just making crap up, like that Egg in the Glass trick.

Don Lemon sees this, is frustrated, and wants to say something, but doesn't want to get fired.

Don: Please defect and go to Current with Keith. I'm sure you will get a good job there, which will actually be challenging and stimulating and good for your career and your soul. CNN is a waste of time. It's on the wane.

  13. Gotta love Don Lemon.

  14. News had light stories and some joking banter even back when it was restricted to half hour or hour shows on network TV. Now that there are multiple 24 hour news networks the bit of time that takes up can be afforded better than it was before.

@Andalusian: Keith has always spent news time doing things like reading Thurber, talking baseball, doing long wordy theatrical monologues, and making jokes.

  15. Uh Rowan, bite my American Gay Ass.

  16. Don Lemon is a smart-aleck.

  17. To Derek Washington

Yeah, I didn't understand Rowan's post either and liked it even less. What's the deal about Chris Colfer. He's a young 20 something entertainer/singer and he's supposed to make some sort of scene with Bachmann? And the other stuff - whoosh; needed more context for me.
