Entire Lutheran College Men's Golf Team Suspended After Dropping Pants for Team Photo: VIDEO

Bethany

The entire men's golf team at Bethany College, a Lutheran college in Kansas, has been suspended after dropping its pants for a team photo in which they covered their man parts with golf clubs.

Hicscock Yahoo reports:

Jon Daniels suspended every player on the Fighting Swedes for three tournaments because of the photo he called, "a case of young people who just don't think beyond the moment and don't realize who they're hurting."

"Until someone sat them down and explained that they did something wrong, they didn't have any idea," Daniels said. "But I think they understand now."

Team captain (pictured) Jack Hiscock (for realz), a Brit, insisted it was all in good fun:

"It was only intended as a bit of fun with the lads."

Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

And check out the full photo above over at Deadspin (possibly not sfw).

  1. They don't realize who they are hurting because they actually didn't hurt anyone at all

  2. Fighting Swedes not allowed to go nekkid? Talk about ignoring your own cultural heritage!

  4. OMG! They dropped their pants?! Throw those students in morality jail! They need to learn a lesson and run for political office first, then do it. That is when it is OK!

  6. Cuz young, naked men caused the downfall of Rome, no doubt.

  7. I wish Jon Daniels would explain to me who they're hurting because I haven't got a clue. "I'm sorry my naked body -- minus my covered genitals -- hurt you"? Mr. Daniels is one sick man.

  8. You did something I think is wrong, so I had to hurt you. I hope you understand why what you did was wrong and how it hurt you.

  10. Jack Hiscock is the best name ever, it sounds like a phone prank.

  11. They posed as a team representing the school. It is a religious affliated college. You go to a religious affliated college and you play by their rules. If they did this as individuals there wouldn't have beeen an issue, but they did it as a team. As a team they represent the college and need to respect the values of the institution.

  12. Oh get a grip Lutherans! We've got naked (and might I add ugly) naked men walking around Castro without arrest - silly to suspend an entire Golf Team for dropping trou ... and covering their bits? WHY would you want to cover those beautiful wangs?

  13. Sounds like a fun group of guys. Naked bodies never hurt anyone.

  14. I love that the TV station covering the "story" is KAKE -- which, in my New Englander-Scandinavian tongue (and possibly theirs, they are the Fighting Swedes), is pronounced "cock" or at the worst "cock-uh".

  15. "(R)espect the values of the institution"? Since you seem to know which values those are, please share. I really want to know.

Would those values be shame, hypocrisy (what they believe is the greatest creation of their "god" causes hurt by its very existence?), hysteria, causing pain to others for no reason, using petty power unjustly?

And you're clearly saying that if they took turns doing the exact same thing, instead of doing it as a group, then no values would have been violated? Man, this value system of theirs is complicated.

Seriously, which values did these boys violate by standing naked in a field with their genitals covered? I would sincerely love to know which values cover that. Because that would be one prepared stupid little coven of christians if they actually planned for this contingency.

  16. What a shame. They all look really hot.

  17. My Fraternity did the same thing in front of the U of F Main Registrar Building in the 80s. There were close to a hundred of us. We used derby hats to cover our KAKE's. Since it was in every newspaper in Florida the University wasn't happy but nothing came of it.

  18. This is idiotic. What if they were a swim team posing in their speedos? How is that different.

  19. Two thoughts: Interesting that the captain is a Brit. Streaking is such an ingrained part of English/ex-colonies college culture. The English have an admirable knack for shoving two fingers at authority, pomposity and earnestness.

Secondly, I re-watched Dead Poets Society the other day, thinking how outdated it is, but evidently still highly relevant to Kansas. "Represent the college and respect the institution's value"? What era are we in??

  20. Ok, Jack Hiscock is the best coincidence of a sporting team member's name reference since the crush I had on the Harry Potter movie character Oliver WOOD, as played by Sean BIGGERSTAFF.

Um, was Jack's mom on crack? Or did she just have a sly sense of humor that displayed equal amounts of not "thinking beyond the moment?"

  21. Stay away from the ball washer.

  22. It seems to me that they were representing their college with far more dignity than Jon Daniels' inane, shame-based provincialism ever could.

  23. Naked beautiful bodies never hurt anyone. This is horsecrap. War and bigoted language and guns and economic and foreign policies that are aimed only at keeping rich people richer -- those things hurt people. Naked bodies, not so much. Especially as it seems all these guys seem happy and they get along enough, apparently, to get naked together and have it recorded. Who cares?!

If the excuse for the suspension (or rather, the "explanation about whom in the future they are going to hurt by being nudie") is that this is a religious institution and the boys are representing said institution, the hypocrisy is even worse. The Bible, we shall all recall, teaches that (wo)man was made in the image of God, and s/he (her/his face, body) is splendid. Even GOD was satisfied with it! (I write this as a non-religious individual who went to years and years of Catholic school and was raised sorta Catholic, as all good Catholics are raised ;) )

This is what happens when the anti-porn, anti-sex people get a little ground and start overstepping into shame-based stupidity.

PS we saw little more than what one would see if the water polo team were posing for a picture here.
