Gay TV Star Taylor Garrett Victim Of Anti-Republican Vandals. Again.

GarrettCoulterTaylor Garrett is a gay Republican, a star of the program A-List: Dallas, an on-screen luncheon companion of Ann Coulter, and apparently a magnet for really atrocious luck. Friday night, for the second time in as many months, he was the alleged victim of anti-Republican vandalism. This time, it turned violent.

Almost exactly one month ago, Garrett reported that a rock was thrown through one of his windows by vandals unknown, along with a note which read:

Who the f*** do you think you are? You are not A-list. More like Z-list. You are nothing but a nelly twink trying to get attention by calling yourself a republican. You are nothing but an embarassment to the gay community. Watch your back you pathetic mother f***ing twink.

The timbre of that message is not dissimilar to the one Garrett's Friday assailant allegedly carved into his car:

F*** Coulter

Garrett says he caught the latter vandal in mid-defacement, after which the vandal punched Garrett in the eye and knocked him to the glass-strewn ground.

After last month's rock-throwing incident, it was widely speculated (including here at Towleroad) that Garrett had staged the vandalism to boost publicity for his show. Garrett's pretty sore about it. According to The Daily Caller:

[Garrett] said he’s disgusted by those in the gay community and media who doubt him and accuse him of trying to gin up publicity for himself by going public with these stories.

Garrett said he decided to join the show because he wanted to show that there are gay “conservative, Republican, Christians” out there. But he said he has been “destroyed by the gay community” for his views and he’s doubtful he’ll return for another season after this.

“I would’ve thought people would have been a little more tolerant considering that our community advocates for tolerance, but it has been nothing but mean spirited attacks, especially after the Ann Coulter scene,” he said.

The point of having lunch with Coulter, he said, is to show people that “just because you don’t support gay marriage doesn’t make you a bigot, doesn’t mean you hate gay people, it just means you disagree on gay issues.”

  1. No, it makes you a hateful bigot, actually.

  2. If you download the pics of the car and Garrett from Daily Caller and run "Get Info" you will see that Garrett's pic was taken with an IPhone 4 and has a "Where From" date stamp of 2011/11/3. Does that mean the Garrett pic was taken on November 3?

The car pic has a "Where From" date stamp of 2011/11/12.

  3. And Little Kiwi's comment on Garrett's relationship with his homophobic dad in 3...2...1.

(lol, kiwi: you're the awesomest, I really enjoy your rants, and I think you hit the nail on the head on this issue. But sometimes I get more compassionate and I cannot muster anything but compassion for these poor folk who are so traumatized by the treatment they got from their parents that they resort to closeted self hatred and passing it off as a holier than thou attitude because they're not 'as gay' as 'the rest of the gays'. So yeah. I don't know. Who knows what kind of childhood those kids had -- that's where the compassion kinda comes in. At least they're honest about their gayness. I have 0 compassion for closeted homophobes who marry girls and hire moneyboys at night).

  4. When you whore yourself to the enemies of human rights, expect little sympathy from the tribe.

  5. Is Towleroad blocking comments?

  6. As you sow, so shall you reap.

Not surprising that a gay, republican christian would find himself the target of a lot of hatred.

Seriously tho, we need to just ignore these attention-whore individuals and focus on getting the laws changed.

  7. If he wasn't seeking atention on tv show & didn't have the prior incident that was extremely fishy (glass broken outward not inward...not contacting police etc)

    One might have sympathy

BUT sorry dude, this might have actually happened but few will believe you due to past fraud and tv show whoredom

  8. It seems Taylor will stop at nothing to promote the gay christian republican agenda.

    He is clueless.

What did Levi ever see in him?

  9. This is awful, violence and vandalism are just not right. Even if the target is an idiot and provides cover to mean-spirited bigots.

  10. you lie with dogs...
hopefully this Uncle Tom will wise up and live to undo some of the damage he's done.

  11. I think these personal attacks against him in the comments are uncalled for.

  12. That photo with Anne Coulter is just so damning.

  14. So gay-bashing is deserved if it's a gay Republican? What a bunch of disgusting, hypocrite liberals.

    Posted by: Max | Nov 13, 2011 11:47:06 AM

  15. I have no problem with the fact that he's republican or christian or right wing.

But having anything to do with Anne Coulter (let alone having lunch) immediately makes me very suspicious of his intent because that horrid thing about as disgusting as a human can get and still call itself a human. Sorry, Taylor, you're known by the company you keep, dude.

  16. Frankly, it's Logo who should have rocks through their windows for gathering five of the most pathetic, shallow and reprehensible people I've ever seen on *any* reality show. It's so sad they decided to broadcast this cartoon featuring the worst of gay stereotypes.

As for Taylor, of course he doesn't deserve physical violence. A lifetime of mockery and a non-existent sex-life are quite sufficient.

  17. no max it isn't

That one questions the validity of this incident due to a previous incident that

1- had the glass broken outward from his apartment as vs inward if the rock had really been thrown through the window

2- his not calling the police but rather tweeting about it like a publicity starved paris hilton 1/2 cousin

makes one hesitate on dolling out sympathy about this latest incident

if in fact it is real, and might very well be, then yes I sympathize

BUT come on, the boy has technically cried wolf in the past so.................

  19. Something just doesn't seem to be adding up. From these comments it seems dates and glass just make this story seem fishier. btw, do you think ANYONE is going to feel sympathy for this guy when you place your politics over the gay community getting equal rights? Has his head been stuck up his ass or can he actually see the Republicans fighting tooth and nail to keep the gay community down?

    Posted by: Michael | Nov 13, 2011 12:04:03 PM

  20. Actually...max...its okay to bash republicans...even if they are gay. Sorry...when a political group wages war on legions of people...they cant expect us to play nice. not called it makes us as bad as the disgusting trash that we are fighting against.

    Posted by: jt | Nov 13, 2011 12:04:05 PM

  21. As far as I'm concerned, a gay man voting republican is the same as a black man voting for slavery. Makes no sense whatsoever to be supporting e very same group that hates us and wants us to be treated as second-class citizens. This guy is total trash, he's worse than coulter. Probably faked the whole thing, the attention-starving whore.

  22. Commenters - whatever you think about the legitimacy of Garrett's story, please refrain from making threats in this comment thread or they will be blocked and you may lose commenting privileges - thanks.

  23. Someone should make clear to the reality "star" that the reason not to break bread with Ann Coulter is not her prehistoric stance on marriage, but rather because she thinks it's OK to insult her political opponents by labeling them a "latent homosexual" (Bill Clinton), a "total fag" (Al Gore) or a "faggot" (John Edwards).

    Posted by: Vint | Nov 13, 2011 12:14:38 PM

  24. So if it's 1975 and some black guy has lunch with David Duke, but just because he doesn't think blacks should get married to white people or sit next to them in class, that doesn't make him a bigot, right? He just differs on civil rights issues.
