British Sailors Lip-Dub Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas is You': VIDEO

The ship's company on the HMS Ocean made this video after learning they would be home for Christmas. They arrive back on December 9 after  7½ months away - 225 days with 176 at sea, according to their YouTube page.

They were diverted to Libya after planning for a seven-week deployment. There are lots more details on the video page, but it's apparent they need to blow off some steam.

Watch them do it, AFTER THE JUMP...

Mariah Carey tweeted to them last night: "This is the best thing I've ever seen, you guys just made my day! Happy Happy Christmas!!! x0x0 to the troops."

  1. It sure is nice to watch something cheerful with no political agenda attached. (Love the sailor in the bubble bath winking at his mate). Happy Christmas! as they say in England.

  5. Great. But...uh oh...they spelled it "Xmas" at the end. The usual religious nuts will be out protesting over that.

  7. That was a lot of fun.

But I found myself wondering... is it a uniquely British trait to be able to be deployed in the Mediterranean for months at a time and remain pasty white?

  8. How can anyone watch that video and still think that enlisted men and women would have any problems with gays in the military?

  9. Ah, the Brits--the same people who gave us Monty Python, "Tom Jones," Peter Sellers, and other "cheeky" forms of humor. Unsurprisingly, this was right up their alley. Good luck to any U.S. servicepeople who try to top it.

  11. Wonder a video made in the U.S. Navy could get away with anything like this....

  12. @CHIP "XMAS" isn't anti-religious. X is Greek for Chi which is from the word "Christ" (and translated into Greek as "Christ". So if some religious nut goes bonkers it's b/c they are uneducated on this commonly accepted shorthand.

  13. X-mas is totally religious.

The word "Christ" as written in Greek (the original language of the New Testament) begins with the letter chi, which looks like "X" in both upper and lower case. Throughout the history of the Church, Christ was routinely shortened to just "Chi" or "X" as it would have appeared in the manuscripts in Greek.

So there, an atheist scholar knows more about their religion than the people who get up in arms over "X-mas" do.
