MN Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment Supporter Has Hurricane-Force Aversion to Homosexuality: VIDEO

Hayes

Minnesota Public Radio's Public Insight Network is soliciting videos surrounding Minnesota's anti-gay marriage amendment. Here's one they received.

Mark Hayes is supporting Minnesota's marriage amendment because of his "scientific experience of reproduction being a basic facet of existence for all organisms" and describes how he'd feel if his daughter told him she's a lesbian:

"It wouldn't be pretty. My response to one of my daughter's telling me she's a lesbian would be a lot like Katrina hitting New Orleans. It would not be good."

Hayes goes on to describe why he thinks homosexuality is a disease.

  1. I don't understand where his animosity comes from. It doesn't seem like it's based on religious belief--more like "if everybody was homosexual, then the human race would end."

It's like an Asperger's/sci-fi convention argument.

  3. Ah so he is using darwinism to combat teh gay.

Well if you actually look at darwin he was mostly WRONG.

    Thank you.

  4. His basic premise regarding biology is WRONG. He completely ignores the vast sexual diversity in all creatures when he "explains" disease. This is an uneducated man trying to defend bigotry with his very weird version of science.

  5. Since this guy brings up biology, in biology there is the idea of "competition". Species compete with other species for resources, and members of a species compete with each other to pass on their genes. More gay couples not reproducing means less competition for this man's offspring, which biologically speaking, would be in his best interest.

  8. his "division among people" argument at the end is especially laughable and ironic.

    facepalm

this man has enormous anger and mental dissonance. you can see it on his face at the very end.

  9. The ironic part is he probably doesn't believe in global warming. He's a cafeteria science believer.

  10. Pig-headed ideas rule this family unit, where the father is the disciplinarian but the mother hits the furthest. And terror rules their children, with threats of catastrophic retaliation if they explore their sexuality. I wonder if he and his wife only have sex to reproduce. If they have it for joy or to express their love, then they are transgressing his scientific beliefs.

  11. It's said again and again that in reaction to things of this sort, the pro-gay and gay respond nastily and viciously. Who would blame them? That's what makes me laugh. This individual (higlighted in the article) is one step away from claiming he would commit child abuse if his daughter had been born a lesbian? This makes the individual sound like an amoral piece of filth, and I have no problem saying so, nor would I have the slightest respect for a government or country which attempted to take away my right to say so (fortunately, America does not). Let me bluntly call what I see: Like some of you, I see a problematic, even sociopathic hatred from a sick person who could benefit from counseling he'll likely never get. Yet people with no moral code whatsoever hold these types of people up as avatars of "family." What kind of sickness has taken over America?

  14. By his own argument organisms reproducing be it animal, plant, or human have, can, and will reproduce without the aide of marriage so his point about marriage is irrelevant. Marriage is NOT a necessary component of reproduction.

He is the epitome of stupid in MN.

  15. Hmmm...Yet another "In denial" homophobe. Look at this guy's eyes! Just a matter of time before they catch him toe tappin' at the local rest stop! LOL!

  16. As far as his views go on reproduction, I wonder how he would respond to hetero married couples who choose not to reproduce or cannot? Would he construe that it would harm marriage too?

  17. Just for a second, let's use his "biological organisms" yardstick for human behavior and see what else we humans do that is not in the least like the rest of nature:

    1. We ingest drugs and alcohol to alter our mood.

    2. We have the ability for abstract thought.

    3. We build machines in which we travel around.

    4. We can rocket off of the planet if we choose.

    5. We create various types of garments for ourselves to wear out of sophisticated woven cloths of many kinds.

    6. Religion.

    7. Written and spoken languages.

    8. Genocide and war

    and on and on.

If we're to use his code of sticking to only behaviors from which we can only copy any other organisms, it's a huge leap backwards in evolution.

Poor guy, very sad and ignorant and scared.

  20. Trying not to be too "elitist' here, but WTF is this? This is what "HIS" side looks like...and we're worried about losing this battle? It's glorious...just think about it.
He has little or NO education, lives in a bubble and can't even look into the camera for two seconds. If so many of them didn't look & sound so f'n ignorant...I might be worried. I think it's time to say something for our side...."WINNING"!!!

  22. @Jose S.
Darwin's theories may have been superseded with improved science. But this science still is evolutionary theory and hasn't shifted away from Darwin's theories in many aspects.

"Darwinism" can refer to many concepts, but in US politics it's usually used by creationists as a negative term. Other people might think of social Darwinism.

The understanding of biology of the guy in the video is laughable (as expected from people who propagate eugenics).

  23. More than likely, his daughter lives in less than desirable conditions already if she lives with him and that's what he thinks.

But look on the bright side: in this politically correct environment of ours where violence is viewed very poorly in the general public (especially child abuse, not to mention illegal and warranting jail time), he just hurt his "cause" more than he could ever imagine.

  25. Note the neatly trimmed beard on Mr Hayes. It looks as if he's colored it.
