  3. Watch the ending. This is SCRIPTED by the parents.

  4. I've been venting about this for years, and I'm over 40! Good for you, Riley, for spotting these manipulative trends and nailing the marketing techniques at such a young age! You're going to go far. :)

  5. how awesome that this video was preceded by a Home Depot ad that featured women completing their own do-it-yourself-at-home projects!

  6. We need more Riley's in the world!

  7. werk!

it's the truth of marketing, especially in film.

young boys will watch things marketed to teen boys.
teen boys won't watch things marketed to young boys.
boys won't watch things targeted to girls.
girls WILL watch things targeted to boys.

this is why terrific films get decimated by producers when they try to tinker with them in order to make them appeal to 19 year old males. who, we all know, aint exactly the genius demographic of the world ;-)

  8. Ha! She's going to be hard to raise Catholic!

Boys get to be priests, but girls don't, boy's get magical powers, but girls don't, but then there is that altar boy stuff too that they have to worry about. Yeah, they can keep it!

  9. Honey, she might have been given the notion by parents, but she understands the concept and is clearly offended! I hope she takes the message to preschool!

  10. How naive do you have to be to believe that she was not told what to say by the (effeminate-sounding) "man" who was "interviewing" her? Obviously a totally staged set-up.....and no matter how desperately he (the interviewer) and others like him try (and no matter how much they manipulate innocent children in the process--as in this instance), they cannot erase the mountain of empirical evidence that shows marked gender differences in behavior, including patterns of play and preferences for different kinds of play, by the earliest ages.

Feminism is nothing but a big lie and those of you who have placed your heads up the butts of feminists, hoping desperately that it will lead to social acceptance of sissyhood among men and boys and a world dominated by women (there goes that hatred of men again) are as delusional as can be....and on some level, I really and truly pity you.

  11. how come those so-called "Sissies" are Out, RICK, while you yourself are not?

look, we all get it - your father hated that you were his son, and you blame gay men for the fact that your father never loved you. he didn't love you. but not because you're gay, but because you're such a complete wimp about it.

post the URL, RICK, to your own page/video so we can all see the strong empowered masculine gay male role model you claim to be.

oh right. you can't. you're not one, and daddy didn't love you. sucks to be you. don't pity us, we're Out. you're the one angrily shrieking from inside the closet, where you will stay forever.
unless you wanna prove me wrong by posting the URL to your own video.....

    ;-)

  12. If you watch the original video it's actually more compelling than the way it was edited by CNN. Go Riley!

  13. My niece loves girly toys like barbies but she also likes action figures she is very happy playing with both.

  14. Little Kiwi why don't you just relinquish your resistance and fall into Rick's arms pressing yourself against his brawny chest while he plunders your yammering mouth with deep kisses? Go on, tell him you love him though I'm not sure he knows you exist since he never responds to your same old same old.

  15. @ Rick: A world dominated by women would be far, far better than this patriarchal sh*t hole we live in now.

  16. @UFFDA - it's sad how cowardly closet cases embrace each other from a place of faceless anonymity. it must suck to be a grown adult whose balls never dropped...

Posted by: Little Kiwi | Dec 28, 2011 1:18:06 PM

  17. As for Riley, you go, girl. I just ignored all the stupid girly crap and played with boys toys, just like I ignore the stupid girly crap and wear men's clothes. Am I a misogynist, like some idiots like to claim? No. I'm a woman who is quite secure in her own gender. I think for myself and refuse to listen to the REAL misogynist a**holes who seem to think women should be shoved into stupid gender roles that died in the 1960's.

  18. Kiwi you're annoying, go away already, stop demanding people post URL's and videos to prove their masculinity that you're lacking, nothing wrong with you not being what Rick isn't but must you always call someone out the exact same way no matter what the original blog post is about here on Towelroad?! And as far as people not being out, they don't have to be, to each their own, mind your own life and let others live they way they choose as long as their not hurting anyone else.

  19. Her parents named her Riley, which is a surname but when used as a given name is gender-ambiguous, so we shouldn't have been that surprised to see this happen. Which is a good thing.

  20. Good thing? Children should be seen and not heard from until they are old enough to understand what they are talking about.

  21. hey eric, it's not my fault that the angry insecure haters have capers for testes.

that's why they come on here to vent so angrily - they're bitterly resentful that their self-styled "masculinity" still hasnt' given them the balls to actually be Out.

but hey, you can continue to prove me right as well by making your angry comments from a place of complete anonymity. hating femmes online wont make your dad love you.

  22. Buy this babe a bass guitar and some sexy boots. She is ready to ROCK!
