AFA Condemns Indiana LGBT Youth License Plate, Compares it To Issuing One for a Cigar Club

As you may know, Indiana recently became the first state to issue an LGBT license plate, for the Indiana Youth Group, which operates a youth center and works with Gay Straight alliances in schools.

Lgbt_indianaThe American Family Association isn't happy about it.

Said Executive Director Micah Clark: "You have to question what the DMV was thinking when they approved a license plate for a group which recruits teens into the homosexual lifestyle. Since health risks do not seem to matter, what is to prevent a cigar club from now getting a license plate from the DMV? State agencies should be neutral in the politically charged culture war especially the promotion of homosexuality among minors. It is very disappointing that Indiana is the first state in the nation to have a license plate celebrating youth involved in homosexual behaviors."

  1. What the AFA doesn't understand is that for a state to be neutral they have to allow groups they don't believe in to have license plates too. Being a former Hoosier, I'm certain that the state was kicking and screaming all the way to court over this. I think the same fight has been going on in Florida but instead concerning a confederate plate. The best thing to do across the board is to drop all these specialty plates.

  2. How many teens do I have to recruit before I get the plate?

  3. Every time the AFA issues a statement they offer further proof as to why they have been called a hate group.

  4. The American Family Association is a hate group so classified by the Southern Poverty Law Center which provides information on hate groups to police departments around the nation. This needs to be pointed out to and in the media whenever they the AFA is mentioned. Why are they given the time of day? Would comments by the KKK be given coverage?

  5. The RAFA has just come out in support of it. The RAFA is the REAL AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION. Yes, I just made it up and it has about as much valididty as this group of loons that no one but other certified loons listens to anymore. They only exist to exist and mainstream America has marginalized this group and finds them only to be koo-koo people with a microphone.

Bottom line: who gives a rat's ass what the AFA thinks about anything.

  6. "Hate" is their 4 letter word. "F*ck them" are my two...

  7. @John, exactly.

"AFA Condemns Indiana LGBT Youth License Plate, Compares it To Issuing One for a Cigar Club"

Of course they do. It's the bloody AFA! Frankly, I'd be more surprised if they didn't say anything at all.

  8. Of course, the pro-family / anti-abortion license plate is just fine, thank you very much.

When I lived in the countries whang, otherwise known as Florida, the closest thing they had was a beautiful "Florida State of the Arts" plate, and a portion of those proceeds went to the now-defunct Tampa Bay Arts, parent to the (also defunct) Tampa Bay Gay Men's Chorus.

  9. What the supposed AFA seems to not be able to understand in their flat 5,000 year old earth mentality is that being gay is an orientation, NOT a behavior one is coerced into. If they really cared about gay teens they would be promoting high self esteem and safe sex. Or allowing us to marry and having wholesome long term relationships.

  10. People have every right to put whatever they want on their car. This is a piece of property they own and have bought. Nobody has any right to tell you what can and cannot do. 100% full support of this!!

  11. How does one recruit teens for the homosexual lifestyle? Come one people this isn't a choice. A portion of the sales from these plates funds LGBT youth in Indiana. Stop being so ignorant and educate yourself!

  12. In the famous words of Sigmund Freud, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

But in the case of the gay-sex-obsessed American Family Association, obviously, in this case a cigar really is a penis.

  13. I don't think I could do this although it is legal. I each his own.
