David Furnish: 'Integrity' of Golden Globes Must Be 'Questioned' After Madonna's Win Over Elton

Elton John's husband David Furnish had more to say to the NY Post about Madonna's Golden Globe win:

Carson_ej“I think it was a fluke . . . When this happens you have to question the integrity of the awards. Did Madonna get the Golden Globe because she attended the awards and agreed be a presenter? Can you sing Madonna’s song? Can you hum it? It’s a song nobody has heard, from a film few have seen. The award should have gone to Mary J. Blige or Elton. I like Madonna’s music, but not her movies. She should stick to what she is good at.”

On Sunday, Furnish took to his Facebook to rip Madonna following the win after Elton's embarrassing red carpet statement that “Madonna hasn’t got a f**king chance."

What do these guys think about Madonna's win? Find out, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Hear! Hear!

  2. Wow. He really doesn't know when to shut up! I guess Meryl Streep, Michelle Williams, George Clooney..none of these people REALLY deserved awards either? If he is saying the integrity is questionable, then those people are in question too. David, you should stick to what you do best, gold digging your way to a producers credit. I've never hear Elton's song, I know Madonna's song. Sour grapes are an ugly thing to sling around in public.

  3. Elton and David - bitter queens without a country.

  4. Don't 50 reporters from other countries vote on this? who cares. They love Madonna. She won for Evita, didn't she?

  5. Bitter table of one.

  6. Elton is a bitter old queen and no one takes the GGs seriously anyway. Plus that Gnomio & Juliet song was awful.

  7. That queen really needs to STFU already.

  8. "Upon reading Furnish's tweets, the Golden Globes decided to make a surprise reverse decision, stripping Madonna of her award and giving it instead to Elton John. The committee penned a three-page long, personally signed apology to John and husband Furnish, and swore to never hurt him again. In an attempt to make up for its grievous mistake, the committee announced that it would be rebuilding the venue for one hour, requiring all attendees to return as they were a few days ago, so that John would be allowed to accept the award, give a speech, and provide post-award statements to the press, in what the Globes called a 'small attempt to remedy the tragic and unacceptable violation of the UK singer's basic and fundamental human rights and dignity.' Furthermore, the awards committee announced that it would publicly decry its awarding of the Golden Globe to Madonna, and vowed to have themselves and the American singing icon flogged in the center of the public square for all to see. Stated one committee member, 'Furnish was so right. We were so, so wrong and he was so, so right. We are so, so, so sorry. We can only hope that Elton and Furnish might even consider forgiving us for what we have done. God, Elton, and, most importantly, David, help us all.'"

  10. The only thing more ridiculous than David Furnish's pathetic griping are the horrific rugs that his husband wears.

    Posted by: D.R.H. | Jan 17, 2012 12:37:55 PM

  11. Using Furnish's logic, actors from little-seen movies should not win awards either. I mean, how many people have seen Clooney in The Descendants? Their hatred of Madonna is making them say very stupid things.

  12. I loved that vid of those Filipino Queens, nice to know people recycle lol

  13. I guess he doesn't realize that his bitching makes him and Elton look even more desperate than usual. There's nothing like jealousy to bring one's insecurity to light.

  14. Hello Hello is an awful song. It shouldn't even have been nominated.

    Posted by: TC | Jan 17, 2012 12:47:01 PM

  15. The fact is, the Golden Globes are definitely more focused on getting celebrities to their ceremony, which is why some of their nominations each year come from out of left field. (The nominations for "The Tourist" last year come to mind.) Press from a number of countries vote, so who would foreign press recognize except celebrities? But Furnish's griping is clearly sour grapes. What makes Elton John think he deserved the award more than Mary J. Blige, Glenn Close (who wrote the song from "Albert Nobbs") or Chris Cornell (who wrote the song from "Machine Gun Preacher")?

  16. Sour Grapes.

  17. She wont come to his parties or socialize with that bitter queen and he cannot stand it! He wants to join her circle and she wont budge or even engage!

I dont know his song either, btw.

Wonder if they will question the integrity of the awards should they win again?

    Posted by: Youknow | Jan 17, 2012 12:55:15 PM

  18. The Golden Globes never had any integrity, it was always about getting the most famous people in Hollywood into one room and getting them really drunk. The winners are the ones the Hollywood Foreign Press think will make the best drunk acceptance speech. Nothing more.

  19. I wanted to wait for there to be enough comments here to say anything, but I knew as soon as I read the story exactly what the responses would look like.

Given a choice between a gay man who has done all kinds of things to help the gay community, including making major contributions to AIDS charities.......and a b!tchy, self-involved, slutty, straight woman who has done virtually nothing of the sort......guess who most gay men will side with?

What further evidence does one need that what defines most of you is your hatred of men, including yourselves and each other?

Which, of course, is why the vast majority of you go through life alone, without any deep emotional connections to anybody--certainly not to other men--functioning as the playthings of straight women--who laugh at you behind your backs as they use you for your own purposes.

And that lack of emotional connection leads to all the problems one sees associated with gay men--rates of alcoholism, drug abuse, suicide, contracting of STDs and just about every other affliction known are much, much higher among gay men than among any other group in the population, actually exponentially higher.....NOT because of the pressures of living in a homophobic society, but because you have so internalized that homophobia, yourselves, that you have become completely dysfunctional and lost human beings with no male identity or sense of yourselves, living frustratedly and vicariously through women.

Your hatred of men (which is a manifestation of this internalized homophobia) makes it more or less impossible for most of you to even carry on a halfway functional friendship with other men, much less a caring relationship.......and so you go on with your tragic and pathetic lives, being miserable, as the comments in this thread demonstrate as well as anything I can imagine......bitterly trying to put down any other gay man who succeeds at anything because it reminds you of what you, yourselves, really are.

    How tragic.

  20. Elton is incredibly rich, talented and famous, and his husband gets to share in all that. They need to get over it and take their kids to the park for the afternoon.

  21. Putting aside the argument that she "deserved" the award (for Pete's sake - it's all a dog and pony show!), can we talk about how grating M's speech was? Brutal. It makes even her hard-core fans cringe when she does stuff like that.

And the cynic in me absolutely agrees with the previous commenters on other posts who have said this is all PR and meant for entertainment. There is no real feud. Let's stop feeding the beast.

  23. Why the F*** does a Golden Globe matter to Elton John or his boyfriend? What a spoiled brat.

  24. Rick said "Given a choice between a gay man who has done all kinds of things to help the gay community, including making major contributions to AIDS charities.......and a b!tchy, self-involved, slutty, straight woman who has done virtually nothing of the sort"

Um, no. I believe the choice was between five songs.

And are you calling David Furnish a "bitchy, self-involved, slutty, straight woman?

    Posted by: JeffNYC | Jan 17, 2012 1:23:18 PM

  25. What exactly was wrong with her speech? She was just surprised and thanked her people. Was it bad only because it was from Madonna? If someone else did the exact same speech, would it still be as embarrassing?

She took the high road and hasn't said anything back to their attacks, good for her!

Rick, you can hate her as much as you want, but she loves the gay community. Are you ignorant or what?
