Maggie Gallagher Endorses Rick Santorum

Picture 35The religious right endorsements for Rick Santorum are coming hot and heavy in the wake of yesterday's conservative conclave. Now Maggie Gallagher, the hair-flipping etiquette coach and former head of the National Organization for Marriage, has issued her own, and Santorum's proudly flaunting it on his webpage.

Gallagher says she's especially impressed by Santorum's ability to "connect the dots" -- to show how healthy families are necessary for a healthy economy and polity. And she praises Santorum for walking the walk, and for surviving liberals' attempts to "smear his good name":

The left, which thought it had buried Santorum years ago, is going after him with a hatred unmatched. They hate him with that special ire reserved for a man's virtues, not his vices.

They will go after him not just to defeat Rick Santorum, but to smear his good name, to associate it with their own muck, to take a decent and honorable man and try literally to make his name mean mud.

They will not succeed.

The American people, I promise you, are not going to reject a man they would otherwise support because he believes in traditional Christian views of sex and marriage. Especially when he believes-not just with his words, and not just with his vote, but with every action of his soul and his life-that a man's job is to support his children, born and unborn, to commit a loving and faithful marriage to one woman, and to devote himself to being a good dad.

That's Rick Santorum...

I guess this means the Santorum campaign's LGBT outreach efforts will be pretty limited.

  2. Another nail, in Santorum's coffin!

  3. If only we could be so lucky as to have Santorum win the republican nomination - or even be the VP... unfortunately that isn't going to happen.

  4. How stupid is this woman? Not even a party as batshit crazy as the GOP wold nominate Frothy. Maggie's setting herself up for (still another) defeat. If only all our enemies were such total dumbfucks!

  5. Maggie, I don't hate Rick Santorum. I hate what he wants to do to me and to people like me even though he has no measure of my character or worth. I pity Rick Santorum, because he has dedicated himself to fighting a monster that only exists in his mind, and I fear Rick Santorum because he is recklessly dangerous to other people's health and well-being, but I don't hate him.

  6. LOL! Old Mag pie hasn't looked like THAT in a LONG time! lol Would someone please Photoshop on one hundred pounds so we can see what she looks like now!

  7. The re-definition has plainly already succeeded, Maggie. Now the time has come to follow him to (Nevada) campaign events and chant “FROTH-Y! FROTH-Y! FROTH-Y!” Can’t wait to see it on YouTube.

  8. Ugh, do we need an article about this? Her endorsement isn't surprising, and this only gives her focus as someone whose actions are worthy of our attention. If she holds an anti-gay rally or speech, fine, but this just enforces the misconception that she is an important voice in the public discourse.

  9. What's astonishing to me is that these same crazy evangelicals were going batshit about the possibility of JFK being in thrall to the Vatican back in 1960, and now they are all getting behind Frothy now.

  10. And the bigoted rats gather on the sinking ship known as the Santorum "campaign." It's all so inconsequential it's barely worth commenting on except to say that Democrats are loving this nonsense.

  12. Poor Maggie, that Santorum is what she and her pals have to work with. News flash, Maggie: the "left" had no need to bury Santorum. His own constituents already took care of that in 2006, when his home state threw him out of office and he lost by the largest margin of any incumbent Republican senator in history.

  13. Santorum threw the other clowns out of the clown car and just drove it off the end of the pier. The clown car is floating but starting to take on water… glugglugulugul…

  14. I was reading some message boards on right-leaning sites and people are getting behind their guy and being quite harsh to the others. Anyway to the chagrin of Santorum backers his opponents have started calling him "Frothy". Ha!

  15. Rick Santorum is the man that Maggie wishes had impregnated her, instead of the one that knocked her up and then refused to marry her.

Rick Santorum is the man that Maggie wishes had married her, instead of a dark-skinned dimestore Muslim in need of a green card whom she trapped into a sham 'union', whose last name she refuses to acknowledge lest it degrade her professional"brand".

  17. An endorsement from maggie isnt exactly good for any candidate. It's like getting an endorsement from phelps or Something. You will just lose support more than u can gain.

  18. y prediction: Within one week Rick Santorum will pack up and go home, where he can dream and obsess (in the privacy of his own little closet) about gays.

  19. Hey Maggie, if your “virtues” are such that it would rip apart families, create chaos, destruction of many lives, possibly change national laws and encourage or feed ignorance, hate and inequality; then that is not a virtue but rather a major vice.. "The rest of the response is on my blog"

  20. When looking whom not to vote for I look to NOM, the FRC, NARTH and LaBarbera for guidance.

  22. Oh Mags- go eat another donut along with a side feedbag of pork gravy- I am sure frothy is breathing easier with your endorsement and the legitimacy it lends to his campaign afterall-your own personal life is such a ringing endorsement of fascist family values.

  23. I guess my biggest frustration is that these pious hypocrites demand "biblical" laws, albeit misinterpreted ones, to excuse their societal prejudices, yet they don't demand Biblical laws in relation to how MONEY IS DISTRIBUTED.

newsflash - the "Christ" figure would have H A T E D the Republican money system, would have abhorred a nation of people demanding that their right to own and carry a loaded gun is more important than the more than 30,000 gun-related deaths in America each year, would have been disgusted by the multil-million dollar industry that is Big Religion, and would have hated people demanding Public Prayer in His name.

you can't be a right-wing Christian who "adheres to the bible' and yet espouse and promote the kind of fiscal plans that the GOP whore out - false feelings of entitlement from monetary wealth are what Christ spoke out against.

    *sigh*
