Higher Education Dangerous, Says Rick Santorum: VIDEO

Screen Shot 2012-02-25 at 10.55.02 PM copy
Yesterday in Troy, Michigan, Rick Santorum explained why kids shouldn't go to college. There, liberal professors "indoctrinate" them, and "remake" them in the image of Barack Obama. This, apparently, is the only reason Barack Obama wants kids to pursue higher education. Says Santorum: "What a snob!"

Watch and weep, AFTER THE JUMP ...

  1. Just keep talking Santorum (who has three degrees)

  2. "Sigh"...... Yes, you see all Santorum's children have been home schooled, using that incredible text book, the bible. They are all prepared for an exciting, fulfilling life in the 13th century. Imagine, higher education where young minds learn science, math, history and rational thinking. Snobbery at it's best. If ignorance was good enough for Santorum and his brood, it's damn well good enough for the rest of the country.

It's become beyond embarrassing that we are all forced to watch and listen while this idiot runs for the presidency of the United States.

  3. Rick "Frothy-Mix" Santorum has a vision of an America filled with mindless god-spouting serfs. He has said that a large percentage of kids go into college with 'faith' and come-out without it and that this is somehow the fault of education. It never occurs to him that the cause of this is that the 'faith' that he shills has nothing to offer a person of thought and principle. What a dumbass.

  4. I'm not sure which is scarier: the words coming out of Santorum's mouth or the fact that people are clapping and cheering at the words.

  5. If there is such an entity as the anti-Christ, it's Rick Santorum. He wants dominion over womens' bodies, he wants gay men and women to disappear, he wants chidren under-educated so they can be turned into workers for the very "elite" he implores them not to become (educated and well paid.)

This is about as close to evil (and antithetical to everything Jesus Christ stood for...) as it gets. The Catholic Church should be ashamed ot have this man as a member.

  6. Dear God when does the stupidity stop. I'm all the way over in the UK, and NO political party no matter how left or right wing would say that we shouldn't aspire to a better life and education for our children. I'm in shock that this moron would say such a thing, and as @Dev says - people cheer it. Do people in the US actually want to stay stupid? I'm sure it's a minority, but heavens, I'm shocked all the same.

  7. Stupid is as Santorum does.

  8. He may have personally picked up three degrees, but he obviously never garnered one shred of education. This is just unbelievable.

  9. I've noticed that most of the folks spouting the dangers of college went to Ivy League schools and benefited from it greatly. Bill O'Reilly, for example, kept going until he had a Harvard degree.

  10. Pol Pot was also anti-education. We see how well that turned out and what it led to.

  11. Uneducated, poor people are easier lured into churches, brainwashed and scammed out of their money. That's all this is about

  12. Keep it up, Rick! Guys, I know we're scared of this man, but if he gets the nominee? He is going to get thoroughly trounced. Yes, he will have millions of flag-waving psychotic supporters...but he's gonna lose. Big time.

  13. More than I care to know if this is an example of a danger to a higher education but google search providede the following for response only - He obtained an undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University, an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, and a law degree degree from the Dickinson School of Law.

  14. @Bart, the Catholic Church has always been about keeping the masses ignorant. Easier to control and oppress the uneducated with superstition when they don't have the knowledge base to see through the lies. The Far Right Religious elite know that their base is the uneducated and that the only way to increase their base is to promote ignorance.

  15. All of the clowns posing as presidential contenders are insane, Santorum takes the first prize. Having a degree doesn't prove anything. I've met ignorant, undeducated people with degrees. Why even George Bush graduated with an MBA from Harvard, and an average C student too. Look at the not so "brilliant" job he did for 8 years and nary a peep out of any of these morons. Then there's the other clown Romney espousing failed Reagan trickle down voodoo economics that brought us to the worst recession since the 1929 crash. If you look at the history or recessions in the U.S., the majority have been brought about under republican administrations, a fact.

  16. This is a joke, right?

    Posted by: michael | Feb 26, 2012 10:19:51 AM

  17. I wish this were a joke. He is evil.

  18. Let the moron keep talking. The more the US voters get a look at how/what this brick-headed man thinks, the less his chances of being President. (Notice I didn't say the less his chances of being the nominee...)

Someone who is so stuck in dogmatic thinking and can't understand why people would run the other way based on his 'thoughts' is someone who will inevitably bury himself with his antics. To espouse this idea of 'avoid higher education' based on one losing religious principles says more about the people than the institution of education.

Religion is primarily about faith and not logic or reason. Universities and colleges teach logic and reason as methods of discovery. If you've not sufficiently brainwashed your kid that God exists before they go off to college, that's not the college's problem. You need to teach your child the difference between a belief (faith) and a fact.

  19. @Dev, agree.
One reason for economical problems in US is the factory work has moved to Asia and Africa. So people in US should get better and higher education to survive in this global market system. Go Santorum! Go home!

  21. Catholics: Disband Notre Dame immediately. Rick says so.

  22. I will be the first to admit that I am completely over-educated and that 99% of the things I learned are useless BUT still one of the most valuable things I have ever done in life. It's not everybody's cup of tea or necessary in many situations but this is just bananas.

  23. Just the other day, I was thinking "America's biggest problem is that its populace is far too educated". (proof? YouTube and Darwin Awards) F.M. Santorum is looking to reduce income tax rates for the super-rich by eliminating the cost of all public education and by turning schools into catholic re-education centers.

Here's what Ayatollah Santorum has in store for his second term. "[Tyndale] was tried for heresy, choked, impaled and burnt on a stake in 1536." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tyndale
