Look Who's Lining Up to Support NC's Anti-Gay Amendment

Family Research Council and the 'Christianist' bigots behind North Carolina's 'Values Bus' are promoting the heinous anti-gay marriage amendment ballot measure there by luring kids to their bus by offering free gifts and candy.

Pam Spaulding writes:

When your ideas are morally bankrupt, as is the case of people who are pimping Amendment One to enshrine discrimination in NC’s constitution, you can’t win on logical arguments based on civil law. You have to load up a bus and drive around to convince North Carolinians to vote to “save marriage from the homosexuals” using religion-based bigotry and try to pollute the minds of children by offering up gifts and candy.

  1. What's that saying about taking candy from strangers?

  2. When did children in NC win the right to vote? I guess I'm missing out on some news.

  3. Christian manipulation and abuse. What's new ?

  4. "Hey boys and girls, want some candy and toys? Just come to my bus." It is no coincidence that this group uses the same tactics as child abductors.

  5. Oh the field day they would have if the "gays" did ANYTHING even remotely similar to this.. accusing *us* of "recruiting" ..

  7. Note all the black kids in that queue. And the adult black woman.

  8. Wait a minute... I thought the Christian Fundamentalists were opposed to indoctrination?

Isn't it funny that the most important aspect of any church -- indoctrinating kids (in their case, into their faith) -- is something they always scream at us for doing, even though every mainstream scientist would call their allegations utter quackery, given the fact that it's impossible to change someone's orientation?

Their brazenness is only matched by their cognitive dissonance and craziness.

  9. Funny, looks exactly like a youth version of what I saw marching up 3rd Avenue on the first day gays in NY could marry. One white woman (in that case, Maggie Gallagher), a handful of hasidics and a sea of blacks & hispanics screaming "let the people vote."

    See for yourself:

  10. This technique--luring children by offering junk food--is a common tactic among Christianists. See Katherine Stewart's excellent book THE GOOD NEWS CLUB: THE CHRISTIAN RIGHT'S STEALTH ASSAULT ON AMERICA'S CHILDREN. Wright exposes the infiltration of public schools, which has been under way many years. The methods used, and the stated goals are, except for a few different terms, the same as NAMBLA'S--seduction and exploitation of children.

The Christianists can't reproduce: they have to recruit and indoctrinate. They are careless about the social damage they do to communities, families and individuals.

  11. Look at all those white Mormon kids. Oh, wait...

  12. Of course blacks are the number one homophobes in the world. Not only in the USA but all over Africa.Blacks think that civil rights are only for blacks. The nice thing is that already conflicts are happening between hispanics (19 % of the population) and blacks (13 % of the population)and these conflicts will stop blacks in the movement to stop civil rights for gays.Blacks are going to need help from all groups. As a hispanic I am super happy that this is happening to the homophobic black community.

  13. @Jason,

What's your damn point? Seems clear the campaign is targeting neighborhoods of color at least in that scene above.

  14. @Oscar,

You're wrong. I'm black and I think civil rights are for everyone: gay, trans, black, Native American, etc.

    Check yourself, dummy.

  15. Hey, let's not emulate the boneheads above and be bigots. "Blacks" are not homophobes. I'm black, and the only way you could call me a homophobe was if you left out the "phobe".

  16. This tactic shouldn't surprise anyone, considering that Christians always prey on children. Considering their predation on them, it is a wonder why they are allowed anywhere near children, or society for that manner, considering how barbaric they are.

  17. So, all the African-American churches are coming out against us. They all vote Democrat. Tell me again which party is for us? Or is it just true that neither party is for us, and one has learned better how to use us? We are (mostly) idiots, for buying into this nonsense that one party is for us, and the other against us. Sheer idiots.

  18. Always sad to come on a gay blog that promotes equality and see the comment section full of race baiting, sterotyping, and bigotry.

You all do realize that there are gay black people too, right?

  19. The keyword is "churches". The Christians are the enemy here. They will stop at nothing, even manipulating children, into destroying everyone they hate. We must end their reign of terror on humanity.

  20. Nothing new here. Every ideological group uses children in promotion of their ideology. Whether its Hitler Youth, Jesuits, marxists, Sunday schools etc. Brainwash them when they are young and you hook many of them for life. The important word in the last sentence is "many", not all. Some do break free of the ideological shackles and lead us to higher ground.

  21. The Catholic Church tried to brainwash me as a small child. In the words of the Pet Shop Boys, "they didn't quite succeed".

  22. Don't child molesters try to bribe kids with gifts and candy?

  23. this is just plain creepy... next they'll be offering jesus popsicles out of their basement.
